i love how the original post said "or any game for that matter." i think that leaves topic open for other EA games....
Even though the graphics thing frustrates me im sure the game will be great, im mostly pumped about joining/starting an online league.
It's a shame that the PS3 version has the frame rate issues, because it is a really good game. I'm still waiting to see what 2K does this year, because generally their games are quite good and they are copying the skill stick too, so maybe it will be the better game. With a decent frame rate.
But if it ends up sucking I know I can at least get 08 for 360.
will framerate be a big issue in this game? Will it almost completely slow down like the NBA live 08 demo?jasontakhar
no, most people probably wont even notice it

So many people say it is a big deal and then one guy says it isn't and you are sold? The NBA demo in no way was a slideshow, or was something that would warrant the description "frame reate issues". Several times in the IGN review they mention how bad it is. I would seriously rent this game first just to see, because hockey especially blows if it ain't smooth. Maybe try NHL 2K8 as well, I have a feeling that will be nice and smooth.aa missed the part about any other games...
and whoever commented on hockey blows... you are obviously not a fan of sports... hockey games are one of the most exciting games to play....

Where is everyone getting this review score, and why is it 8.6? It's not GS, obviously. Please link a review you're discussing in the future.
Anyway I prefer the 2K games by a long shot. I will be buying 2K regardless of score, I really couldn't care less about EA games, especially when they can't get their **** together enough to make a smooth game.

"Maybe" it will be the better game?
Dude, when has an EA hockey title EVER outscored a 2K hockey game? Of course it will be the better game.
2K sports play like a real sport, where the team reacts to how you play, instead of taking the ball/puck and running off on some scripted BS like EA sports titles do. EA is good when they're doing Fight Night, Tiger Woods (usually), probably Skate, but I'm not going to give any of their games a chance until they get their framerate crap together. I think it's strange that last year, when the PS3 was brand-spanking-new, EA managed to release games without framerate issues for it, but now that Peter Moore is running the show and the holiday season is here, not only can they not put together a smooth PS3 game, they make a big deal of it to the media. Peter Moore said NHL would run 60 FPS and the framerate issues were fixed, like a week ago, and it comes out looking like crap? The guy is a complete scumbag.

When did Peter Moore say NHL 08 would run at 60fps on the PS3? All I remember hearing is that come November with the release of Live 08 EA Sports titles will be running at 60fps.
Also, in regards to Moore, he just came on board with EA Sports, when many games had already been in development and in the case of NHL 08 it was probably 95% done. So unless Moore said "Hey guys, I used to work at Microsoft and since I have a bias towards them, please drop the frame rate on all PlayStation 3 games" it's just speculation on your part.
Back on topic.
When has an EA game ever scored higher? By the looks of it........this year. Last year NHL 07 scored an 8.2 and 2K7 an 8.3 and I can guarantee that the difference in score was because of the lack of features and poor defense.
Now with NHL 08, they have improved the defense and put more features in it, so to date this is the best NHL game in the series. Unless 2K8 has something really special then this year the crown will be changing heads.
I really liked '07 and 2K7 but the inordinate amount of body checks and flopping bodies on the ice was really distracting. No amount of tweaking got the game to where I wanted it, but that shouldn't be necessary, the developers should know that there aren't 70-80 hits in one game.
