Very easy. Even with the some what hard races you can very easily catch back up. Easy platinum as well. Only difficulty I had was trying to get 8 players meet at the Wild Cats Baseball Stadium. There is always 1 or 2 idiots who won't cooperate.
Its definitely one of the greatest arcade racing game ever. now only for $15... completing online challenges is easily one of the greatest online experiences, seriously. it was well worth it even though i bought it for $40. And to finally answer your question:) No, its not hard, but its kind of difficult at the very beginning when you dont know the city. but after that it only gets better! Also check out the Big Surf Island expansion pack. Amazing stuff too.

What im wondering though, is why are these games only multiplayer online and not on the console. it pisses me off beyond belief, i bought the game thinking i could play against friends on my own console. LAME, but the game still kicks-a$$ compared to others in its league, and its fairly medium, not ridiculously easy, and not stress-fully hard.

I really kinda hated this game, especially since i only had it before the update where restart was enabled when failing an event. which shoulda been in the game to begin with. the cars were soo fast and i crashed so much, and i would get so angry when i lost a race because i couldnt just retry from the beginning, sometimes i would be in a part of the map i didnt like. overall it was pretty decent for its franchise but i would much rather play gran turismo or pacific rift. i might like the game better now with the update but i really hated it while i had it. **** that piece of **** game
It's not hard in concept, but traveling at break neck speeds down the highway, focusing on your competition at your sides or some ramp miles ahead, and your most likely going to pull out a few fistfulls of hair after one too many head on collisions.
The racing is fairly easy. You have boosts and a large selection of cars to choose from if you buy the 'Ultimate' box set. However, you have many challenges to complete apart from racing. These include the 'Freeburn Challenges', where you go online and work with other players to complete whatever is required of you. There are 500 of these (including timed challenges). You also have loads of road rules to beat, billboards and fences to smash through (the collectables). On single player - apart from standard racing - you have 'showtime', 'stunt run', 'road rage' and 'marked man' challenges. These test your skills in terms of the different aspects of your driving and will provide hours of fun.
