Hey I'm thinking of buying a 40g ps3 for 399$ but don't know ifI should spend an extra 80$ to get the one year warranty so i was wondering really if anybody has ever had a problem with there ps3 in the first year they bought it and if buying the warranty was worth it?

No it isn't. Sony has a 1 year warranty on most of their products and over 99% don't have a problem.(Statistics according to Best Buy representative)

Your buying Piece of mind, if you are the sort of person who want to covered for that little bit longer, gets worried went somthing unexpected happened, then yea i suggest it However PS3 is a very Stable lil beast. Had mine since launch and i dont think i would buy extra 'peace of mind' i can see this out living my TV :-D

I bought a 2 year warranty just in case for my 80 GB. Not too sure about my 60 GB ~_~;;.
