Correct me if I'm wrong, but the gameplay is all fighting, but there are rpg traits such as gaining equipment and leveling up. So I guess its a fighter/rpg hybrid in the way that Fallout is a shooter/rpg hybrid.

Yes there are light RPG elements, as your character gains experience you learn new moves, you can also buy all sorts of equipment to boost your stats as well as some costumes.

Ya lol, its worth it just for that!! I've played the Japanese version, however I'm sure I missed out on some features because I only understood the basics through english guides. I'll have to get the english version!

Its a fighting game with rpg elements.from what i have played of the *** version i can say u can change equipment and stuff and edit ur moves list so u have moves when u are on the ground and moves when u are fightin in the air. Im not sure how many u can set for each ground and air attacks but i think it was something like 5. I mayb wrong though

It's not a fight game at all. Please don't call it that, you degrade fight games. It's an RPG with no maps or traveling.

I believe so yes, but its not an ordinary arcade figting game like Tekken or something. Its true that the only thing you can do is fight opponents, but ithasdifferent story lines in the 10 game modes though, if you start playing with, for example Cloud, then you will have to fight Sephiroth at the end.

So its still a fighting game only, but not as linear as the others.
