How bad is it still, or how well has it improved?
To the point, is this game playable to where I can sit down for a few hours to enjoy and not worry about freezes and wierd stuff happening on screen.

all i can tell you is sense the last update the game has been far less prone to freezeing up. there is still a couple minor quest that are broken. one that is always broken, it involves killing a super mutent thats killing live stock. minor quest to be sure. iv ran in to a couple other problems rarly like loseing a follower and haveing to retart from a previuse save point. all in all its not to bad. just be sure to update the game right off. Also make at least 2 even 3 or more def save files and alternate between them as well as save often. just in case you do run in to a problem. The game def has its flaws but IMO the good aspects out weigh the bad. Its a very deep fun game with a lot of character just like the last game as well as oblivion. I can see the game not being for every one but if your looking for a RPG type of game with a HUGE detailed world that feel s alive ect i think you'll love the fall out games and oblivion if you have not played it. F3 and nnew V. are in my top 5 ps3 games and prob in my top 10 of all time. there just so huge with so much content ect. 60 to 100 plus hours sp game is very cool imo. all togather if loosly estamate that i have a couple thousand hours in betweenFO3 andFO NVand maybe that much again just in oblivion "PC" lol.
For me,fallout 3 wasn't anywhere near as bad as new vegas,at least in fallout 3 i just got to a point where i just quit because I felt I was done with the game.In new vegas I didn't even finish the main quest once...because I couldn't for the bugs( my brother managed to somehow). What really disapoints me is I preordered the collector's edition, needless to say I learned my lesson.
I'm thinking about picking up this game, since it's $20 at Gamestop. Does anyone know if there is a preferred console version?
I'm not trying to start a system war... I just don't want to make a new thread when there's a perfectly good Fallout: NV thread right here.

hopefully we will not get modded for talking about this and like you i do NOT want to start any silly fanboy flameing. Both F3 and NV look a little better on 360. a little less pop up of objects and textures and the textures look a little better. nether of wich is any big deal as they are pretty close. the big def "relativly speaking" is the AA. the 360 versions def has a leg up on the ps3 version. i could def tell a defernce and that being the 360 had less jaggies. the over all visual quality is just better on the 360, Not a great deal better but its there. also iirc the 360 has a little better frame rates but i could be wrong on that. i dont own a 360 but i have played the game at a friends house on his 360 for a little while.as far as textures go youd all most have to have the 2 def games playing side by side to see a real def but i could tell instantly the 360's version had less jaggies. so if i had both systems i would prob get the 360 version but its not a big deal. Not any thing worth loseing any sleep over ;)if you still have the game, get it patched up. there is a option when first talking to the guy who gives the test to skip it and choose what stats you want so u dont have to take the test. its a work around for the goat bug.My PS3 copy never let me past the GOAT in the introduction. lol Of Fallout 3, that is. Never tried NV on PS3.
