Well im thinking about buying an rpg this time this weekend for the ps3 since every game ive played so far are shooters or action based games so i think it's time to mix it up. Well anyways im thinking about buying fallout 3 but i heard it's very buggy,and freezes alot and has tons of glitches galore!,I was wondering if i should get the ps3 version or buy the 360 version instead?
The main game in Fallout 3 is fine for the PS3 as it was patched shortly after launch except the 360 version has better graphics. The DLC is buggy for both the 360 & PS3 versions so it doesn't matter which you get.
No Fallout 3 plays just fine on ps3. However, Fallout 3 is overrated. IMHO Oblivion is a better game in just about every aspect. You should look into Demon's Souls, Borderlands, and Dragon Age before getting Fallout 3. Fallout 3 was kind of boring. If you have a 360 and want an RPG go get Mass Effect 2 now.
Thanks i have played oblivion on the 360 before i had one didnt like it that much..but ill get it for the ps3 someday and yeah ill be getting DS,BL,WKC and DA in the future Guess ill get fallout 3 for the ps3 now...
I froze a lot playing the game but i was able tofinish it. I couldn't even play the dlc's though they just kept freezing like crazy i couldn't even move. But i am sure that only happened to me.
it crashed my ps3 on multiple occasions and i had to "hard reset" the ps3. so remember to save often and keep multiple save files. but its still my favorite game this generation. i had the greatest single player experience on fallout 3.
I'm not sure I would call going from shooters to Fallout as "switching it up" since it is hardly different from a regular shooter, but anyway yea I wouldn't recommend the game as there have been many issues for different people including freezes, framerate drops, glitches, etc.

The farther you progress in the main plot, the more often the game freezes. With the worst problems occurring when you only have the last quest to complete. Get the game of the year edition anyways, prolly got fixed in that version.

Fallout 3 is up there among my favorite RPGS of all time. No issue exists that would sway me from this game, be it glitching, frame rate dips or even freezing. Learn to save often, if you didnt know that tho you prolly dont play RPGS. I wouldnt exclude this gem from you collection (50-100hours depending on your skill and all DLC).
Nowhere near "unplayable". It has it's share of freezes and hiccups, but it shouldn't stop you from experiencing the game. Save often, and you won't have a problem. The 360 version isn't much better either, I've played both and the difference in visuals is negligible. Now... between console and PC, they look like light years apart.
i didn't like oblivion that much but love this game. oblivion does have more thought into it like guilds but hopefully the new fallout will have that stuff
Fallout IMO is fine but it depends if you would like the story/universe it gives. If i had to choose between Oblivion/Fallout IMO Oblivion is better but as i said it depends ;)

This. (this, COD4 and Dead Space are favs this gen) I think its been said that the PS3 runs at a lower res buttt this attributes to no frame tearing which is quite noticeable on the other console. I guess I was lucky I guess cause my 40 plus hours of play (borrowed a copy) had 1 glitch in which a character wasnt where they were suppose to be a restart fixed it. Also my game never froze, lucky I guess.

What's the point in that? It's almost the exact same game. If he just played it for a short while at a friend's house or something, I think he should give it another shot, the game can be found very cheap. It's the kind of game you need to really get into to enjoy.
fallout 3 (game of the year edition) is totally unplayable on the ps3.....when you pretty much finish the main story line and begin to pass the DLC,it freezes quiet often...it will get to the point certain parts of the f3 world will not let you advance (ex. i am unable to go to tenpenny tower cuz everytime i do,it freezes)....you can goggle all this and you will find many article stating this.
I've beaten Fallout 3 maybe 4-5 times (without dlc) and the game has frozen a couple of times, but is certainly playable on the ps3. I rarley have had problems with it, even on my 60GB despite what other think. What I have found is that people have mixed expieriences with Fallout 3. Some have many issues, others have none. I was one who had very few problems. I havn't tried the DLC but I've heard the same thing with mixed expieriences.
I bought the original edition before christmas and it played fine, graphics arent great though.
Hey you know what i just realised. Games like Fallout 3 with crap graphics dont get mocked for having bad graphics but when MAG had bad graphics in the beta/full game, everyone started hating on it.
The game is amazing, and its not unplayable. There maybe lots of visual bugs and ocassional freezing issues, but its still one hell of an amazing game ;)
I dont even want to think about how long I played Fallout 3... but in all that time I rarely had any problems. I want to get the GOTY but they say that ones glitchy.
my only complaint of fallout3 is. when i uninstalled it fallout3 it wont reinstall i tried at least 30 times. it use to take up 5gb now when i install it only install 172mb and f3 runs at 10fps. i keep putin my f3 disc in it makes noise for 5min says installing. when done i goto data utility it only shows 172mb every time until i can reinstall this game its unplayable 2 me.
