so the reviewer community has generally acknowledged this as one of the best action games of the last generation, and I am wondering if this is very accurate? Is it really THAT good?

Its a funny question to put on a forum but I'll guess I'll be the first to answer it. Yes it is just as good as they say. Not overrated like MW2. I guess if you need solid proof then go on the playstation store to download the demo or buy the game when it comes out so you can see for yourself.
I don't think they are that great, but many other people do. I recognize they are best (or at the least close to the top) when it comes to action/hack n'slash games, but perhaps I'm just not that into the genre. Didn't care for the first 2 GOW games, so I'll be skipping out on the 3rd one.
i think so but that is my opinion of course. i think its one of the best IP's to come along on any console in the last decade, but of course GOW is not for everybody, all i can say is get or rent the collection and see for yourself. a person can tell you how awesome something is until their blue in the face, but at the end of the day u gotta experience it for yourself friend!!!
Its one of the many reasons i stay faithful to playstation. If youre into action games with a classic greek revenge story of mythological proportions, then yes. By all means.
Not in my opinion. I haven't been at all impressed with any of them, especially from a story perspective. raven_squadBut you give Bayonetta a 10?
Do yourself a favor and get GoW Collection today, the game sells for $40, but at amazon the game it's $30 right now (don't know for how long). Even if you don't like, I'm sure you could sell this game for $30 or at least almost that to some friend. In my opinion, GoW series it's freaking awesome, can't wait for GoW III.

I liked the story of Bayonetta, felt it was creative and unique, and unlike God of War I liked the characters a lot as well. Plus the combat aspect is nearly flawless in my opinion.
I don't think it will be i want it to be good but in my opinion mw2 was way to over hyped and didn't deliver what i thought it would! So im going to get to excited!wierdchildi meant im not going to get to excited srry!
i liked the first and second GOW. i cant wait for this one but i dont no what ur saying. do u think its over hyped??? if so i dont think so

I've got to ask, are you really that infatuated with Lady GaGa to always have her in your sig? Her music is the balls, and I'm pretty sure that "she" has them as well.
On topic: It depends on what you mean by "THAT good". I mean, how good are we talking here? Are they good in the sense that they allow you to control a crazy, psychotic, merciless anti-hero? Yes. Are they good in the sense that they bring together all those awesome Greek myths you used to read about and completely destroy them while still being awesome and entertaining? Yes. Are they good in a way that makes you stay up till the wee hours of the morning trying to rack up the biggest combo you can, all in sleek, styling, fast-paced gory action? Hells yes.
If I had to choose one word to describe the God of War games, it would be savage, because that's what they are, and that's all you really need to know. As long as you're not looking for a serious, story driven game than you will have fun.
It's a great series, honestly. I doubted the first two, the demo for the third blew my mind. Went back and got the GOW collection and now I'm psyched, I'm definitely becoming a GOW fan/enthusiast. Very over the top, it's my kind of Prince of Persia, if you will.
