Depends. Are you a big GT fan, or just a regular user?
I cant wait till late 09 early 2010 to play the final thing, so I downloaded the game. Its really a great game, and with the online mode, and the drift and Time trials rankings, you will get tons of hours.

Dude... lemme give you alittle intel...
THe game is good... it just depeneds how much you are into cars to keep yourself playing the game.... You can play online in the begginer races and earn money to get new better faster cars... but in order to unlock all the tracks for the online play, you have to play the offline event tracks. You start off with 3 different classes A, B and C. After you beat those you unlock the Intermediate races online and the offline S class event.. Now you are able to quick tune your car before an offline/online race which makes a big difference.
Overall the online isnt that bad its just that their are no private rooms or chat...on a website I read they are adding that in real soon. Even with out all that I'm highly addicted to the online and you will find yourself racing some of the same people and have some GREAT HEATED RACES! =p
There are definitely some issues with online, I agree. But I'm sure Prologue was a part of it. Hopefully as the time goes by we'll see things worked on.
In fact, I'm sure Polyphony will keep updating Online.
I feel it little as well, but it's still playable and quite enjoyable. ;)

I'm in a same boat, I'm a loyal fan of Gran Turismo since first release, but the game definitely has its minor problems that I'm sure will be worked out with time.
Then again, I just keep going and don't think about it to much..:lol:

The online could be better, but considering GT never had online before, I'm not going to complain. Aside from the inability to join a race with friends, I would like to see them fix things like incurring time penalties when someone purposely runs you off the track. This is pretty annoying. I mean do they actually expect me not to try to pass someone for fear they will run me off?
It depends on what you plan on getting for the rest of the year. This is the perfect time for me to get it because I might not have time to play it later on when other titles come out. If you really like cars and the GT series, then its a must-buy. Trying out the different cars has been great as has been racing online.
What are you guys talking about the online isnt bad minus the couple features.. i get into the game fast and the races arent laggy if you have an ok connection...
man buy it . im not a fan of racing cars and this one is totally adictive. its totally fun to play and driving all the cars feel awesome and different. its one of the best games ive played this last gen.amazing graphs and its not that short you will spend around 20 hours buying modding all nice cars , getting gold in all events, playing online
