Easiest thing in the world. Connect power and video cables to the back of the system and the wall/tv respectively. The system comes composite cables (red, white, yellow). After connecting and loading, it walks you through system setup: display.audio options, account setup, etc... That's all pretty self explanatory. If you've used a 360, as your username suggests, it's the same exact process.

Depends what you want to connect it to?

TV = Easy.

Monitor = Can be tricky, if you're like me only one VGA connection & no built in sound.

I also want to add that the USB cable that charges the controller is kind of short, but you can plug the usb into any computer to charge it so you can charge it on your pc during the day while your ps3 isn't on if you'd like.

This is the nice thing about it - I usally charge my DS3 on my 360 when I'm not playing my PS3 because the cord is so short. Anyone else have issues with it not charging in a dumb device? IE, I can charge the controller fine on my computer and any other console, but if I plug it into a power strip with USB outputs it does nothing (and I know they work because my iPod and cell phone charge fine on them).

Yup. I believe the back USB port of the 360 is always powered, where none of the PS3 ports are powered when the console is on standby. Alternatively, if you have WiiConnect enabled on your Wii, you can charge the controller on one of the Wii's USB ports when it's on standby.

I've noticed that too. I have a few of those USB wall plugs that come with cell phones, and cameras, and whatnot, and they don't charge the controller. It kind sucks.

Yeah; I've probably hooked/unhooked my PS3 250 times or more. I move it upstairs and downstairs all the time.

If you have owned a system since PS1 or N64, then you know how to hook up a PS3. If you have a 360, then you know how to hook up PS3. It has a power cord and audio video cables. That is it. What is nice about the PS3 is that it does not have that huge power brick the 360 does.
