I'm going to make this short and sweet. All I see on the horizon (that's worth a damn) includes:

Final Fantasy Type-0

Persona 2

Monster Hunter 3rd Portable

Half-Minute Hero 2

Seriously, that's it. Am I missing something here, or can Sony not distance itself fast enough from the PSP?

As I keep saying, the last sports titles. NBA 2K12 (really hoping 2K does release this game, because it would be nice to have one last shot at a basketball game for PSP) then Madden 12, the last american football game as well. it's been a great ride for PSP, and I really enjoyed it a lot, will still keep my PSP when the Vita comes out. :D

I never thought it was a very great system, but that's just my $0.02. Anyways, the Vita is taking over, so yes, PSP is nearly dead

Yeah im sad to say the psp will be gone soon, iv had and will continue to have a blast on mine though. There's still loads of game's i need to pick up for it so it won't be over for me for a while yet. I hope the vita will be more popular then the psp, the psp really deserved more attention, it's a great handheld.

Sadly that's partially true. However, old titles are still out there and I'm planning to keep picking one every month or two as I've missed out on a lot of them. So the console itself isn't dead, but the support it has will most likely be.

it may be dead in terms of new games, but i still have not gone through all the B-level and C-Level games in the library. While I wait for the Vita to come out, I still play games that i never tried before. I started playing Chili Con Carnage, Brave Story New Traveller, and Lara Croft Anniversary. None of those are AAA titles, but still good enough to pick up my psp and kill some time.

Well, the PSP Vita is coming out soon so, naturally it will be phased out soon. I am very much looking forward to those games you listed though :)

There is not a lot of new games coming for PSP. With the PSvita launch on November 4th 2011. Sony and the 3rd parties are working on the PSvita games. about 4 months remain for PSP as the current Sony portable console. The it joins the legacy systems. PSP then should have about a year left of games before it folds for good when the PSvita takes over.

Quite honestly, the PSP's entire lifespan has been like this. It seems as though it was always on Sony's back burner. I'm really hoping that Sony does a better job of promoting the Vita.

I think PSP was a great handheld gaming device. Sure there weren't many good games on the system but I had a quite fun time with it. And I still play my PSP every now and then.

I don't think it is ever game over time for a portable. The psp has a decent library and can play psx games. I still use my gba. A good portable lasts forever, imo.

Maybe Sony will do the 10-year plan like what they did with the PS1 and 2? :P

Monster Hunter alone is still worth buying the PSP for. That game has countless hours of game-play. Anyone dedicated enough for this one franchise will never have to worry about "the next big thing" for a very long time. It's not everyone's cup of tea but if Monster Hunter does turn out to be one of PSVita's launch titles (rumors), I will bet that it will sell like hot cakes.

It's a great system. Very powerful. Still feels "next gen" to me. I can't even begin to imagine how awesome (graphically at least) the next version will be. Isn't the PSP already powerful as is? The games looks and play great. Graphics are still impressive to me, and the library has a lot of great RPGs especially. Racing games are usually very smooth, too. Hard to imagine the next PSP being much better than the one we already have.

I don't feel that it failed. It's just for a specific group of consumers. There are a couple of things that could have been done to enhance the experience but it definitely wasn't a failure.

This topic is pretty much what I was thinking about recently. I think its dead or dying at least. Persona 2 and FF: Type Zero for me after that its over.

I hope maybe Valkryira Chronclices III gets an HD remake or something since its not coming over states anytime soon.

That's a pretty good point. Does anyone know why Sega is being so hesitant about VC III? Did VC II just sell like crap in the west or something?

I don't get the people saying the psp didn't have many good games. For me, it was handheld gaming awesomeness. Mega Man X: Maverick Hunter, Dracula X Chronicles, Twisted Metal: Head-on, Syphon Filter, Tactics Ogre: LUCT, FFT: War of Lions, several YS games, Gurumin and more. It was the best handheld of the last decade, imo.

i still wished to see qriocity and digi comics make it to canada, i've would have liked a calculator and an agenda in the extra menu also, AND Final Fantasy Anthologie PSone classic make it to The PS store. The FF 1 to 9 would have been playable with the PSP. exept the 3 wich sony never got his hands on. Also i would have wanted not to die the umd moovies. anyways , it looks dead project by sony right now...

Was an epic run tho true, and i'll still enjoy it for a long time,i'll never resale my games or this system.

Proud owner of 72 psp games and 10 umd movies

The PSP started off so well, but for the past few years there have been VERY few AAA titles that really show off the console.

Lots of RPGS

But the first few years: Daxter, Wipeout (Pulse and Pure), God of War, Tekken DR, Resistance Retribution

Then...nothing - the PSP should have had hundreds of games of this quality - but it only really had a handful.

I mostly use mine for PSOne classics now...

also would have like online numbers for skype to make it to canada.. lol support for canada and psp wasn't so much there. anyways i got the head phone with the mic on it plus camera for psp and i can still call peaple for a cheaper price than any phone. Skype is usefull , internet radio also , and there are many IGN walktrough designed for the psp web browser out there. btw you get an alternate costume reddeem code in the 3rd birthday box for lighning in FF duodecim dissidia peace :)

Sony killed the PSP by releasing to many new versions of it to soon. All the talk was all the movies coming out on UMD. They could have done a lot more with it. Game wise, God of War is the only game that really pushes the PSP to it's limits and show what can be done.

That's pretty much it with all the games listed. I wouldn't be surprised if gets discontinued within the next two years or so.
