It's good in it's own way. I just prefer games that encourage you to work as a squad. maybe Arcade shooters aren't my thing.
Well I'm kinda good at it and is not that bad for me, I ain't a super FPS fan but still I like it and still play it. And on another note, I tried going to Killzone 2 just for the kicks and wow, when I first played the controls were perfect for me now for some reason I find it kinda different, I blame MW2 though. :(
No trolls yet? Wow.
For what the franchise is, and always has been, there's nothing wrong with it despite the naysayers who obviously suck at the latest installment.
Those greedy pigs at Activision on the otherhand...

I wouldn't say the naysayers suck at the game. I'm not riding them either. It's just personal perfernce pretty much.
Short but sweet campaign. I wish the single player was about double the length, and had more vehicle missions.
Cartoony multiplayer. Pales in comparison to many older (some years older) online shooters on PC, and pales in comparison to Battlefield Bad Company, Killzone 2, etc.
I personally don't think the game is bad at all. But it is hugely overrated. Still, I'm sure even the people bashing the game have to admit it's still one of the top 3 or 4 shooters on PS3. Going forward though it sounds like Activision plans on milking this franchise to it's death.
No they don't. Everyone charges 3 bucks per map... Killzone, halo, Uncharted, lost planet ( I think)the game is filled with BS and you have rip off activision charging 15 bucks for 5 maps

You're completely right. The game is super fun and addictive if you don't try and think of it as some hyper realistic war simulator. As an arcade shooter, it's one of the top dogs. Plus, Spec Ops.
Anyone figure out what 50 cent says in MW2? I remember someone saying it was a small part like that.CHANGING MAG!

I love the game but Commando was not needed. Death to the person who created that perk.

Marathon ~ Lightweight ~ Commando. When I get killed by this combination of perks, I lose a bit of my will to play.
The game isn't nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. The plot may be lame and the multiplayer can be cheap, but I still had fun with it.

Am I the only one that really liked the game's story?
People are always gonna hate, especially if the game's sales are high.
I've put a lot of hours into MW2 and I'm still playing.
No, it's not.
It just got blown out of proportion because bashing popular things is popular thing to do, ironically.

MW2 is fantastic. Such a fun game. Like someone else said, it can be a liitle too cartoony and some of the perks and weapon choices can make the multiplayer very uneven. Its a step back from MW1. But still a heck of a game. I love it. Its just a matter of getting used to the terrain and the common roads people use to get around the map.
Definetely not my favourite game as I prefer more squad based shooters, but MW2 is really fun in it's own right. The campaign is decent and multiplayer can be pretty fun if not a bit easy.
Why do people bash it? Simple. Gamers have an obsession with bashing hyped up and/or popular games. People LOVE to think their opinions are unique and special. Remember those kids from high school who were obsessed with non-conformity and claiming that people are buying in and not being themselves? They weren't being themselves either, they figured since they're sooo different that they stand out and feel good for doing it. Another thing is the obsession with gamer elitism, and I admit, I'm guilty of this too at times. For some reason people hate it when gaming is criticized but once something gets really popular and drags people in who aren't cool enough to have played on an Intellevision or know what a great gem Kid Chameleon is they get pissed off at the "casuals".
People are frustrated with the series and Activision as a whole so that are lashing out at it. The fact that the game has insane amounts of hype that there was no chance in heaven, hell or whatever you believe in, that it could live up to it. Activision had to create that kind of hype to get that sales record, but that also assured many disappointed fans. The events that have followed certainly hasn't helped. Sepewrath
Maybe for some of the more dedicated series fanatics, but can you honestly say that the majority of those who bought MW2 really care about Infinity Ward's post release fallout?
I hated the game and i could rant about why i hate it all day, but in the end i went back and played cod4 for a bit, before i moved on to better things. It just wasn't fun, they fixed the biggest problem in cod4 which was grenade spamming but then added a whole bunch of other annoyances.
But hey, i suppose when i like a game and the "next installment" comes out, i figure they will improve on the formula that made the first one enjoyable and fix the problems that hindered it, and when that doesn't happen i probably hate the game a little more then i usually would.
Hands down most sensible discussion about MW2 I've ever seen.
And now my thoughts: The game is fun and addicting, although I enjoy tactical shooters more. Some perks are over powered but for the most part its okay. MY only real complaint is that it feels really generic; like it doesnt have its own identity. It runs the middle ground between hyper realistic combat simulators and over-the-top, heavily stylized shooters. I think the only thing that made me buy it is the fact that all my friends play it.
[QUOTE="Captain_SOAP_"]No they don't. Everyone charges 3 bucks per map... Killzone, halo, Uncharted, lost planet ( I think) killzone offered 2 maps not just one. in the end it still is and was cheaper than mw2. for cryin out loud, half my buddies got the maps and i cant even join them why? cuz activision is forcing us to by the maps inorder to play with ur friends cuz the list isnt updated like the ppl who bought the maps. so if u decide not to buy the maps but play mw2 with ur buddies who on the other hand bought the maps, well guess wat? ur out of luck cuz if u wont buy them u cant play with them. if that aint a rip off i dont know wat isthe game is filled with BS and you have rip off activision charging 15 bucks for 5 maps

Its a great game, but the multiplayer has now been overrun with noobs and hackers, which ultimately ruins the experience
The game is just highly overrated. Randoggyit's actually the opposite here on GS, its like the most hated on game, and it dosen't deserve it, it's one of the best titles of 09.
MW2 is just the same as always, which is why I got tired of it so quick. Plus the killstreaks sucked
i hate it for alot of reasons, I use to love Cod4 both single player and online and once Mw2 came out it was just an overrated piece of garbage (mainly reviewers suchas gamespot or ign).
Yet most people I know hate the game, it seems like the type of game where either you like it, hate it, or love it and its the only game you play lol.
People are always gonna hate, especially if the game's sales are high.

I'm beginning to feel this is the real dilemma.
I've said my share of nasty things about MW2, but never have I once said it was a bad game. It's got its flaws, like any other game, but the thing with MW2's is that there are so many overlooked, tiny inconsistencies that they all add up to a broken multiplayer.
Most people don't notice it because they're either too new to the series or just completely sucked in by the accessibility of the whole package.
When you're getting tubed in the same spot over and over, it's easy to dismiss it when you respawn and kill 5 guys, then 3 more with some ridiculous predator missile. You're too busy feeling good about yourself to care.
Simply put, MW2's multiplayer is FPS with training wheels. If you're doing bad, you've got deathstreaks; if you're doing good, you've got killstreaks. Rarely do people ever go those ridiculous "45 - 6" matches without the help of some stupid helicopter or airstrike.
That would be Search and Destroy man my favorite mode :)It's good in it's own way. I just prefer games that encourage you to work as a squad. maybe Arcade shooters aren't my thing.
