Is It Just Me Or Do Most Gaming Sites Never Review Multiplatform Games On PS3?

I've read a lot of multiplatform game reviews on various sites and it seems most of them are reviewed solely for the Xbox 360 then that review is copy and pasted over to the PS3/PC section.

It happens more often than not on Destructoid, Eurogamer and Gametrailers who specifically state they reviewed it on the 360 but sites like IGN and Gamespot seem to have seperate reviews for each platform.

I'm aware publishers send out the review copys of their respective games but its hard to believe they only send out only the 360 version for review especially with EA and their friendliness with Sony. But I've seen this trend with games that are shown to be equal if not better than the 360 version of the game or games that have a larger amount of content on the PS3 such as: "Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit" "Dead Space 2" and "Assassin's Creed Brotherhood." And I'm sure the same thing will happen with "Portal 2" in April.

Why are these gaming sites using only the 360 to review multiplatform games? Especially when they claim in many opinion articles that they never have and never will have a bias towards one system over another?

That's how it used to be, but now it's just you.

Besides, games tend to be better on the other console because the PS3 usually gets ports.

From what I understand, PlayStation 3 copies usually aren't the first choice for publishers to send out to reviewers. That's why you don't see many people state that they reviewed a game specifically on the PS3 and checked other versions thereafter.

Go cycle through the multiplatform games for Destructoid and then try and tell me they don't...

Well, scratch what I said. c_rake's answer is probably more reasonable. I don't really read reviews anyway, much less Destructoid's, I just buy whatever looks good.

Then how can you possibly give a response to the question?....

I don't think it's just the TC.

Seems like most reviews do go up for 360 first, and then PS3 which of course is usually a cut and paste review. Crysis 2 right now is the same way, pretty sure Homefront was the same when it came out. It's not just gamespot either, pretty sure IGN is the same way. I don't sit and wait for reviews to decide what games I want though - so doesn't matter that much. It is kind of curious though. You'd think it would be more random which version was reviewed first, especially given some of those games you listed were "PS3 first".

Typically publishers send the 360 version rather than the PS3 version. Not sure why, perhaps because it's cheaper for to make for review purposes.

Just based on personal experience and what I used to read of reviews, really. Hell, I didn't even read the intial post. No offense. Besides, you're naive if you seriously think any of the responses you're going to get in here are going to be 100% correct.

They are biased because Xbox 360 has a bigger fanbase(not making it better) and is going to be reviewed more then often as to say other consoles

I'm only concerned about the matter because it seems EVERY multiplatform game is reviewed on the 360 even when the game is catered to the Playstation, I saw many sites saying they reviewed "Dead Space 2" on the 360 but not on the PS3 which to me was awkward especially with the two discs required to play the game

The reason why you see that PS3 reviews are copied from the 360 section may be because there is not a difference between the two versions. If a game is multiplat and the reviewer does not notice any differences between the two systems, why write something different in the PS3 section? The reason why the 360 versions of games go up first is because the 360 is more popular than the PS3.

I just want remind everyone: don't make this a System Wars-like topic. Keep mention of other systems to a minimum and refrain from coming up with some sort of theories of "bias" or something. We're in the PlayStation 3 board, after all. Let's keep things on focus.

Just thought I should remind everyone since these kinds of instances have a high tendency to become System Wars-y.

Vast majority of multiplat have differences that you will only catch if you play a game at 1 fps...which is exactly how review sites are able to catch the minute differences.
