Is it just me or is (developer) opt-in custom music better?

I think it's better because games that should have it (Burnout Paradise or any other racing game, Killzone 2 MP, RDR) have it and games that shouldn't have it because of the importance of the soundtracks to the game(Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 SP, God of War 3 etc.) don't have custom soundtracks. Although some games that should have custom soundtracks don't have it i think it's better in the long run. Having a random song playing in the middle of Uncharted 2 or Killzone 2 would kill the mood.

I think all games should. All sony has to do is say "add this code or we won't license the game".

I don't like custom soundtracks on story games, but I guess on like racing games then it is okay. But the music has to match the tone of the game.

I agree 100%. I never understand when people whine about not having custom soundtracks. I mean, in a racer, fighter, or sports game I can understand it. But a story driven game relies very heavily on the music to set the mood. Imagine Heavy Rain, God of War, or Uncharted with some random pop song playing in the background. You probably don't want to, so I'm sure you see why its not really necessary. HOWEVER, I did like the option of playing Bayonetta boss fights to "Last Day of Magic" by The Kills.

I like the game soundtracks from high profile games. They always make great soundtracks. KZ2 and UC2 as well as NFS soundtracks are awesome. But for arcade games, indie games, card games, they should have custom soundtracks. I was about to go crazy listen to UNO repetitive music.

I want custom soundtracks. It's your choice if you don't want to listen to your music through a really atmospheric game if you think it kills the mood
