I'm a level 19 in a-spec and I've overcome some hard challenges, but it seems I've reached a point where I am lucky to get a gold on anything a night, especially in the special events section. I would continue in the cups in a-spec mode but to qualify I need 3 cars worth anywhere from 1 million to 20 million. I have 1 million. So basically my gripe is that you need a ton of money to continue a-spec mode, and the best way to get that money is through special events...if only most of them weren't so impossible to complete....

Anyone else having this problem? I feel stuck

Don't forget to tune your cars up. I guess golds are supposed to be hard to get, but the game does become very grinding after level 20 or so.

yeah, the special events are really tough after the first round of 'em. great way to get credits, but they only pay off the first time you hit a medal. one slight mistake will kill an entire rally event....been trying b-spec to see if I can round up some extra funds that way. the b-spec driver is not level limited to cars that I've noticed, and you've already acquired a good lot of vehicles by now, so he can be given an overpowered car and left to run the races to an easy win.

It's tough, and I like it that way. If I don't get pissed and exit an event without completing it daily, the game isn't doing it's job for me, heh.

I find the actual races ridiculously easy. It's rare that it takes me more than 2 tries to get first place, even in a car that's slower than the AI cars - they take corners like a senior citizen going up a freeway entrance ramp. I'm at level 19 and doing the expert level races. The special challenges on the other hand - now those are a handful! :D I've got all golds on the B and A licenses, which was a bit of work. I finally took first place in the VW van race at the Top Gear test track the other night, that took about 2 straight hours. From what I've heard from other people the Nurburgring races in the AMD academy thing are the hardest challenges in the whole game. I got gold in the first one on beginner, but I haven't tried the rest yet.

I've only played the game at a friend's house, but I have had my share of hours in the previous GT games. In my experience, they are all difficult at first to an extent. I think that's part of the appeal for people. Of course, once you get a good car that works in many races, it becomes easier.

Yah I'm right where you are. Races are super easy, as long as you have the right car. I actually haven't finished the VW test gear track but I did get first in the lotus elise (put traction control on!). I guess I just became frustrated with the Rally events on intermediate. Just curious but what vehicle do you use for Rally events?

We'll see if you feel the same way when you do the GT All-Stars race. I agree in other races the AI doesn't race too hard. But GT All-Stars makes me feel like I'm riding a bike next to a Lambo.

Gt All-Stars is in Expert right? I think I tried that one with my up-to-that-point dominating Mazda Concept '08 (can't remember the name of the model right now). In expert it sucks because you need a super fast car that has an MR engine, a super fast car that is older, and then a car that can keep up with the cars found in All-stars....any suggestions on a vehicle like that? I just feel like to continue competing in A-spec I need to save 15 million for the old super fast jaguar....which really sucks when your so happy just to get to 1 million credits...

I still haven't found a car that can compete in the Old Timer's Race car event or GT All-Stars and I have the GT-R race car from the Toyota Dealership, the Race Modded Corvette, a fully tuned R8, and a fully tuned 458 Italia. The good news is that when you level up to unlock the Extreme races, the competition slows down as far as HP goes, but they do corner much better so the challenge is still there.

Your missing the point. The challenge isn't the race, it's getting a car that can have a CHANCE to win the race. And to do that you either have to grind out 15 million credits like in some misguided japanese RPG, OR win a suitable car from another event. That isn't a challenge, it's boring.

Licenses were always insanely hard to get all golds on. Some of the special events in GT5 seem like they will be just as hard or harder to get gold than the licenses. Many of the A-spec races you can just overpower your car to win.

This has always been the case with GT. I remember my old roomate and myself playing GT1, where we would just spend weeks grinding the same event over and over again as it paid the best and was completed the quickest. It has always been this kinda way in GT. I have no problems running the same track over and over again, as practice makes perfect in racing games.
