If the game was running while you left it alone, then you might want to not do that again, but if the game was just in there and you left it on while on the XMB then I'm sure you'll be fine. One time my bro forgot to turn off my PS3 and it was on all night, but it wasn't hot or anything the next morning, and the fan wasn't on full speed so it turned out to be okay.
Dude, seriously, it's fine. I've left Disgaea 3 running for close to a week just because I didn't want to play the item world crap so I left it on. Not a biggie. You'd likely be doing more damage by turning a system on and off repeatedly than leaving it running continually.
Wait, you didn't want to play the item world place so you left the PS3 on? How does that benefit you?Dude, seriously, it's fine. The disc shouldn't be damaged but it's never good for your console to be left on for eight hours straight like that.
If you leave a game on pause you'll prob burn the lens. I know cuz i left GTA4 for 2 hours and when i got back my original release 60GB wasn't reading any disc, luckily the warranty covered it after i say it happen out of the blue ^_^I was on the computer and I never relized that I never turned it off, and my disc was inside it.
