Is it okay to leave a disc in my PS3 while it's standing vertical?

Just want to know. When I kept it horizontal, I always kept a game in. Just wondering if there's a difference. I have my Fat PS3 vertical because it has infinite air. If it was horizontal, the left and right side would be covered by a wall. At least 5inches of space for the sides if it was horizontal. Infinite on every side if it's vertical. So yeah. Is it okay to leave a disc in my PS3 while it's standing vertical? Didn't see a forum on this. Send a link if you can. Thanks!

I've had my PS3 vertical for 4 years now. I never had a problem. Only when it ylod'd on me. Then I got it fixed at a shop and it's been good for almost a year now.

I would assume it's fine, since the PS3 was designed to be positioned ether way.

Why not. It can't move around in the B-ray drive.

Well, It is better that you put it standing up, listen i;ve heard that if you leave it horizontally with a disc in it and walls covering both sides, it might get pregnant.

Sometimes I leave a game in (if it's something that I REALLY want to beat) sometimes I'll take the game out when I'm done.

This is actually a very difficult question to answer, because the only people who know for CERTAIN as to whether or not a disc can be damaged inside the PS3 are those that know ALL of the following:

1. Whether the clamp that holds the disc steady while the spindle spins it touches any part of the disc that holds data

2. Whether the clamp can actually cause any physical damage to the disc at all, to begin with

3. Whether or not the material that blu-ray discs are coated with is actually completely scratch-proof to anything that might happen inside the console

4. Whether or not any kind of external movement could cause any kind of "rubbing" of the disc against the clamp and whether or not this would even do any damage at all

The great irony here is that there is no viable way to "observe" the disc as it spins inside the blu-ray drive or when it is at rest

Leave it, nothing will happen...unless a 2 year old kicks your PS3!
