Is it okay to put the PS3 hardwood? I stacked up 4 levels of old xbox games on the floor and put hardwood on top of that and put my PS3 on top of the hard wood because theres not enough space on the shelf. Do you think its alright?

And below the stack of xbox cases is the carpet.

Thanks.

As long as it's a hard flat surface it really doesn't matter whatit's made of.

Owning a PS3, I notice the thing gets hot. I would not suggest putting it on top of the plastic, however I'd suggest putting it vertically on the hardwood floor if there is no where else to put it.

Yea, but not even close to being hot enough to melt plastic, lol. Dude wherever you want to put it is fine, so long as it has enough room to breathe. I mean please note that the ps3 itself is plastic, and has it melted yet? ;)

One doesn't have to be a student of chemistry to notice that different plastics have different properties but I guess you are right about the amount of heat it puts out. I personally wouldn't risk it (as slight as a risk as it may be) due to the fact that I put in so much money into the bloody thing. He is also right about ventilating the system, this effects its performance in ways I don't understand.

Keep your system off the floor and out of any cabinet. I wouldnt put it on any narrow self made tower due to stability. I keep mine on a short entertainment center, on the top. Sits about 3 feet high.

Yes i realize that most likely the ps3's plastic is probably a higher quality, but still it would be insane if a console actually got hot enough to melt something, haha. Reminds me of one article i read in PSM a long time ago. It was before the ps3 came out, and they were talking about one of the dev units; that one actually melted a bit, no joke. :) Also reminds me of those ps3-grill pictures....Anyways yea, i wasnt trying to come off as a jerk, sorry if i did.

what the PS3 is sitting on doesn't really matter as long as it's solid and stable

You should be ok. As long as it isn't on a surface that attracts static electricity.
