Playing offline means you have to be really careful. Die too many times and the world will shift towards Pure black world tendency(PBWT) meaning the enemies will be harder and you will also have to fight black phantoms. And it doesn't reset when you log off, that only happens in online play.

Yes it is possible...I played the game entirely offline as I'm doing now with Dark Souls. You do have to be careful ad will die ALOT...but it's a fantastic game and can be greatly enjoyed offline

Just to add to Swift_Boss_A's post, your world only shifts to black tendency when you die while in human form (in other words, if you remain a ghost or whatever, your world will remain unchanged regardless of how many times you die).

No, not at all. You can level up in soul form. I played through almost the entire game in soul form.

Also, i beat Demon's Souls (and New Game+) the first time without ever using the co-op features. I'm not recommending that though unless you are looking for a challenge because actually the co-op is pretty fun i've come to realize.

I think though if you were offline, you would die a fair amount to some of the traps on certain levels and finding the right way to go would be really difficult at times.

Also, I wouldnt recommend going online right now, since I think they're doing a Halloween event in which the world tendency stays black, but hey, if you're looking for a challenge, then go for it. The chances of getting rare drops increases with PBWT, so its worth the extra challenge if you're trying to forge some weapons that require rare ores.

It's interesting to play offline to shift the world's tendencies towards white or black. It can really help if you want a platinum trophy.

Its more difficult but absolutely possible. In demon souls I found online features to be very helpful, especially with boss fights. Having 2 people join you is more then welcome. Otherwise you will spend a lot of time grinding souls to be strong enough as you progress further.

yes it is i beat it offline..and no dying too many times doesn't shift the world's tendency to black..that only happens if you play in human mode and die too many times,if you die in soul form the world tendency remains the same.

In Demon's Souls it is completely possible! The only risk I would say you run is dying to a trap or foe you weren't aware of, which will probably happen because of your lack of messages from other players. Other than that, it's really not that hard to beat alone (or rather, not any HARDER to beat alone, imo... its still quite an ass kicking your first time). Dark Souls is a different matter however... some bosses just freaking require you to have another person

absolutely man.. i own both and have never played either online and never will, its much funner to play solo, i don't even know why these games have an online componant other than to make sure they follow the stupid mp herd like everything else.. a friend of mine beat demon souls last year and he doesn't play anything online.. regardless though you're in for a fight, simply put- this game is hard as balls! lol

Thanks for the replies. As a gamer of 29 years of experience, it seems I finally found a challenge :)
