Is it so hard to put a decent title on Play Station Plus?

I'm into some independent titles and what not and simpler games; so I'm not just here stomping my feet that new, hit titles aren't available. I get that. But is anyone ever consistently "happy" with the monthly selections. Not just once in a while. I mean does anyone feel that every month it's "worth it".

2-3 decent games in a year that are actually worth the yearly fee, in my opinion.

Tomb Raider is the last game (March '14) that I ever was pleasantly surprised to see on PS+

When PS Plus first launched they had games like FarCry 3, Bioshock Infinite, Remember Me, Mass Effect etc for the PS3 which were very valuable back then, it's not unreasonable for them to gradually take such quality away I mean after all Sony was bleeding money from the giveaways.

@amyh7292: Taste is subjective. I like a lot more games they have been putting out this entire year. I'm consistently happy. If there was a rough month, it was this month, but that's only because I own Dishonored and Killzone Mercenary.

----

You weren't clear, but if you are just talking PS4?

PS4 PS+ has already delivered 40 PS+ games and counting. 40 GAMES AND THE YEAR ISN'T DONE. Quality is in PS+ favor as well using metacritic. LINKY.

If you want COD titles or whatever, that's not going to happen much on PS4 since the machine is so new, but I did enjoy InFamous First Light and Injustice Ultimate for PS4 this year. The PS3 was years old when PS+ games got good, the PS4 is still too new.

That said, I grew up on NES, SNES, Genesis, etc...so I like indie games. I find the games are far more creative many times compared to the corporate shooter games released today. I'm bored of most modern retail games. Sure, I wish indie games were pushing the envelope graphically or sonically, but I dig the innovative gameplay instead of the cookie-cutter, paint-by-numbers shoot things gameplay found in most retail games today. I've been there done that.

Give those indie developers the main stage and let them make our retail games with bigger budgets and larger teams, then we'll see some awesome games. These days, retail games by big companies like Ubisoft, EA, Activision are WAY TOO SAFE and BORING.

@Jaysonguy@SolidTy Of course taste is subjective. If you consistently like the games offered by PS+, then you're one of the few and that's cool for you. I'm not a CoD fanboy expecting first person shooters. And Jaysonguy I don't know how you have any idea what my "taste" is when all I said was that tomb raider was the only title I thought was "worth it" not the only one I've ever liked on PS+

Last month the indie game Papo y Yo I thought was awesome and I really enjoyed it. But that still doesn't make up for the fact that in a year about 70% of the games are obscure indie games that are either okay or can be beat in like three hours (papo y yo). It's a gamble, you win some months you lose some. I'm fine with some months being more indie/Japanese games but that's not what everyone is into. So it just would be nice to occasionally see a title on there that anyone has even heard of that you would actually buy outside of just playing it because it's free

And I have a PS3... which means it's generally a kiddie puzzle game, an arcade fighter (or similar), or a 2 year old title

This so bad. Good God it's like they finally found a work-around to giving us free games whilst not damaging their business in any kind of way.

PS+ free games are so terrible that the feature may as well be called non-existent anymore. Indie platformers, indie platformers, indie.. etc.

They just want your subscription $$ so they toss you some shabby bones here n there to keep you on the platform. If they gave away their good games then they'd lose out on potential sales.

Eh? Imaginary rant? This single month has 4 indie games to boast.... :/

1- Tower of Guns (indie)

2- Aarus Awakening (indie)

3- Never Alone (indie)

4- MonsterBag (indie)

Every month it's like this. How is this month and many other months' lineups not enough of a fact for you?

@pimphand_gamer: I get that it's a bad business decision to give away new games, I'm not asking for that. It's been out for nearly a year and a half, they could give out older games at this point. I switched to Playstation about a year ago and the selection has been extremely underwhelming.

TBH I get the impression the "big" games that make it onto PS+ only do so after they've been out for a while. It probably doesn't make sense for publishers to put them out otherwise. With the PS3 the system had been out a while before PS+ came along so there was a large library of games that were "past their sell by date", so to speak. Not so with the PS4 which has only been out for a while.

So I guess the good news is the calibre of games is going to get better from here on out. The bad news is that by the time those big games arrive the chances are you'll have already played them.

So let's take a look at the so called lacking titles shall we? Dishonored, Injustice, Infamous First Light, Thief, Batman Arkham Asylum, Cryisis 3, NBA 2k14, Puppeteer, PES 2014, Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Payday 2, Metro Last Light, Borderlands 2, DMC, Grid 2, those are just few titles that came out the last year. What the **** are you talking about?

@The_Last_Ride Again though, with the exception of maybe Tomb Raider and NBA these are "old" games that we've already played/own is the point or they're titles with 6/10 ratings (or so) that didn't sell to begin. Some may be a good games, but a 2-3 year old game is, as we've been saying, underwelming and not worth it. If a 3-4 year old game is exciting to you (which is maybe $6-10 on ebay) then that's great, but in no way worth the subscription. And of course we know they aren't going to be titles from this year or even greatest hits from last year. But hell Arkham Asylum is from 2009 though. Who hasn't played that that cares about it? Which is the main point here... the games are either irrelevant or so old that everyone has already experienced them if they were their "kind of game" to begin with.

Again with like 1-3 decent exceptions a year. If that makes it worth it to you, then props to ya man.. I'm glad someone is happy, seriously. Because I think it's a huge scam to rip the f*** out of PS+ members for a rare once a year little redemption "here you go, because we know the rest has been utter shit" -sincerely PS+

I smell entitlement. If you don't like the service, don't pay for it.Those are great games, what the hell do you expect? Brand new games? That's too expensive considering all the games you get each freaking month. There are lots of games i haven't played or even gotten. Stop whining and don't pay them if you don't like it.

I play the games that i get and i like them. It sounds to me that you don't even do that

I totally agree with this OP. I have found every free game to be a waste of time. I'm glad that some people are getting into them.

The system has been out over a year now and there are a ton of so so early releases that they could put up that would make me happy.

Knack
Need For Speed:Rivals
Battlefield 4
Tomb Raider
Metro
Thief
Watch Dogs

Games that no one is buying any more.

Then others might complain because they already have those games. I suppose with cheap indies, perhaps they keep open a larger base of players that didn't already purchase them? I don't think there will be a reasonable answer that satisfies both gamers and Sony other than just doing away with the free games since gamers will still have to buy it if they want their multiplayer I guess.

I suppose they could offer subscribers free PSN Now game rentals. I would be interested in that.

Honestly, last month's offerings weren't bad at all. CounterSpy and OlliOlli 2 are great games, and it's at least a nice thought that Oddworld was on there even if it's not a good remake of Abe's Oddyssey. Injustice was also a pretty good deal. As someone who didn't play a ton of last gen games, especially not the odd and seemingly random ones that sometimes pop up on Games With Gold and PS+, and was an Xbox 360 owner anyway, I welcome any chance I can get to fill out my somewhat sparse ps4 library and play something from last gen that I didn't get around to the first time.

@The_Last_Ride Hardly "entitlement". I'm simply stating I don't feel that it's worth $50 a year but, like I said, if you do that's fine. Sometimes you get a great one but it's not worth the risk of a crappy month to me. I realize it boils down to not more than $5 or so a month. I guess when you think of it like that it's not a horrible rip off. Also I have PS3, so for one indie "arcade" game a month and another generally B-list random, that makes it really not worth it in my opinion. I'm not expecting new titles or even new-ish, again as I've said, I'm just expecting less indie titles that I've never heard of (and I play quite a bit of non-mainstream "popular" games)

and I agree @wannabesbb last month was okay for me, as a PS3 owner. I enjoyed Papo y Yo a lot. I'm not saying these games are bad or anything just not that exciting after a while of the same stuff over and over again. I don't plan to renew

Apparently so, that's why I'm letting my subscription run out in September. No more PS+ for me because it's just not worth it for someone like me who buys a lot of games.

There's over $1000 worth of games, it's a good service. You get games for Vita, PS3 and PS4... Live Gold is even worse with only two games each month. EA Access is even worse

Agree with OP. I can't stand most indi games, and don't understand the fascination with them these days, but to each his own I guess. Not worth the $50. Actually not with a $1. Only pay it for the online, but since I find myself usually playing single player anyway, so might be giving up PS+ when it expires.

It's not as hard to try to find interest in more of the games that release on PS+. So many quality games have released on the PS3/Vita in the past upt to now, it's almost ridiculous. And sure, the PS4 hasn't seen the same quality of games, but its library has only been growing for over a year now. You're expecting way too much if you're wanting full retail games on there already. I think it's fair that they've pretty much only released smaller titles that would normally cost around $15 each on the PS4 thus far.

Granted, I pass on most titles that pop up on the Instant Games Collection anymore. But if I can even find one game a month to play from it, then I'm easily getting my money's worth.

why would they put good games there for free, when those games are selling good on their own? that would be bad business.

The free games on ps are awesome, granted the ps4 had more indies, but they are still pretty good games. Its head and shoulders above what ms will give you for games with gold

if you are complaining about getting old games, then PS Plus is not for you. Sony is not going to put The Order or Bloodborne for free right now. Sure, they could put Knack or Killzone: Shadowfall up for free, but the company is not going to offer big budget titles on Plus yet because there are not that many big games that are that old. 72 games a year for less than a full priced game is awesome. This month was meh, but the majority of the games have been good. I would have never play Resogun, Pix the Cat, The Binding of Isaac, the Oddworld remake, Injustice, and Transistor. All of those games are pretty good. Triple A titles are becoming less and less relevant as time goes by. Most of the titles out there keep getting delayed. If you are only playing triple A games, then you will be disappointed with consoles as well as PC this generation.

@amyh7292: I have disappointments from month to month, but ultimately these are gaming experiences that I wouldn't have otherwise. If it was not for PS plus I would never purchase any of these quality titles. With that, I own a PS3, Vita, and a PS4, so I get a lot of value out of PS plus.

@amyh7292: PS4 gets shit on in the free games. I'm sick of all the indie bullshit.

Same can be said when it comes to Xbox One. The Vita has had some excellent games come down the pipeline for free

I have only downloaded Injustice Gods Among Us and Valiant Hearts for PS4, The PS plus on the PS4 side sucks. The PS3 games are usually alright.

why do you need to take it to that lvl? just because I don't like indie games that much doesn't give you the right to bash on me. I don't bash on you for any reason and I am not bashing the games them selves, I am just saying that the PS plus on the PS4 side could be a lot better.

I'm not sure how the PS4 ps+ games could be any better, the console has only just released really, there aren't that many games they can just give away as of yet, the PS3 had a vast library to pick from for it's games, there doing a good job consistently giving free games every month, I mean there pulling games from no where just to get them onto ps+, there doing the best they can, and there could games
