No way, this is a good time to get one. Great value and especially since this years line-up is kick-ass.

Plus Sony says that the PS3, like past Playstation consoles, is a "10-year console."

It's only been 2-3 years, it's not like it's a handheld, updating ever year or two. So start running to your local game store.

It has only been in the market 2.5 years and Sony says to expect 10 years out of it. Do the math. :P

The PS3 is still in it's prime. It should be going strong for another 5-6 years AT LEAST.

I know a couple of people who have only just bought a PS2 this year, and that's in it's 10th year now I believe

how could you think its too late man think logically...the only people that say that ps3 is going to die are the people who dont have a ps3...but in fact it isnt too late maybe perhaps too early....wait until holiday around christmas...and see if theres a price cut of some kind and whether theres a cut or not...get it then...i say the 160 GB version because it comes with Uncharted and thats one great game...

I think it's the perfect time. There are a bunch of AAA games out already such as MGS4, Killzone 2 and inFamous and there is a lot more coming.

Not really 10 years before the next system though. Look at the PS2, they are still counting its 10 year cycle and it has been 9 years.

Yes. They just announced PS4 and it's coming out tomorrow.

Definitely not late at all.

There are many games to enjoy now and quite a library to look forward to in future.

You're looking for additional 7-8 years of support, look at PS2 - 10 years running almost and still supported with great games.

Nope, not even close, I got one this week, has 5 games for it so far and is enjoying them, get one now.

PS3 is also a Bluray player which is the future and DVDs have to go out sometime in the future ^^ So its never too late to get a PS3.

Why would it be too late? The lifespan of systems before the next one comes out is going be longer this generation. Most 3rd party games want to multiplatform all of their games for the most part, so I don't think, we will see announcement of a new system until 2012 or maybe later. I would say you at least have 4 to 5 years before PS4 comes out.

If your into fighting games the PS3 controller is the best system for it.

We have 26 good to great exclusive games that I can think of off the top of my head for the system, there is probably more. 9exclusive games to look forward to that we know about between fall of 09 and early next year. About 3 of those are almost guaranteed to be awsome.

I honestly don't get the question. Now, is the best time to own a PS3, so how in the heck could it be too late? PS3 is just starting to gain momentum. Its got a long life ahead of it, and if it keeps picking up like it has here lately it'll run through the competition like a freight train!Nephilim83

I agree. I've held off buying a PS3 since it was launched (I wanted more games first) and now I'm just totally pumped to go out and buy one now!!!

ps2 is still going, isnt that enough indication whether ps3 has enough time, heck 100 plus games will be released to the ps2 this year so its far from dead,

and ps3 is newer so ,,, guess what, you can betr on a 12-13 yr run if it picks up steam ,

Yes it is too late. Time has run out! I can't believe all this time, you never knew the general public was on a time limit of three years after the consoles released. Sony has stated after year three, all of the PS3s sold will all blow up at the same time. Because a certain chip is activated once you power it up. All slated for Nov 17th 2009. You might get a couple months out of it, but why would you pay such a price tag for that?

It's NEVER too late to buy a PS3. Sony has always had 10-year lifespans for its consoles, i heard they're breaking that rule with the PS2, i'm guessing it'll still be around until the PS3 drops down to a price that competes with the 360 and Wii prices (even though you're getting a lot of value even for the price its at now).

I suggest you go out and buy one now from JB HiFi (australia) because they've got the cheapest Killzone 2 bundle (thats where i got mine) around, and its been out for about 4 months so i guess they might be getting rid of it soon, or you could get an inFamous bundle if they're available.

When the ps3 first launched it didnt perform TOO well. I thought to myself, I'd wait about 2 years for the console to get a better libraryand whatnot and only then I'll get it. It's gonna be 3 years old by the end of this year and I'ma get it in a few months (after important exams).

I think the worst time to get a PS3 is during the launch. Titles weren't great, priceand YLOD cases are all regarding the early machines released during lanch. But NOW I feel is the best time to get it!

I'ma get it, no doubt, just before the year ends and I'm sure I won't regret it! Well, I got a PS2 5 years into it's life...
