What magazine? An xbox magizine? The slim only overheats if you play for 1 or more weeks straight without turning it off.

01.) Always get a warranty. 02.) When it first came out I got mine and played it (literally) for over 24 hours straight. If that didn't do it, nothing will.

I wouldn't feel safe playing it for a long period of time while it's laying horizontally. The bottom of it gets REALLY hot when it's horizontal. When vertical, it doesn't have that problem, though.

Don't be too hard on the OP. I read in a magazine once that Tom Cruise had a screw loose...that turned out to be true ;) As for the PS3...fat or slim...comfortable warmth (my PVR runs hotter) and it is one fine built piece of electronics

mine too, Plus it shares the same space as my amp and 360. Though the PS3 and 360 are never running at the same time. I did go buy a little fan to circulate the air. No problems....

The Slim feels slightly hotter at the back, which is a good thing because that means it's cooling system is working properly.

False. I've had my 250GB Slim for 2 weeks now and it's stays on the first fan level and barley gets warm when its on. I play around 2 hours a day on weekdays, and 10+ hours a day on weekends, and my a/c is on constantly at 71.6 degrees faranheit.

Read what he said again.

He didn't say they don't get hot. He said neither of them get hotter than the other.

This means, both his Fat and Slim get hot, but the Slim does not get hotter than the Fat and vice versa; they are the same.

Are you using it in a room with AC? Mines gets warm hot were the power supply is located, the temperature were is live has been very hot these months from 88 to 90.

Reminds me of the time people would post about being concerned about all the hot air coming out of the back of the PS3 in 2006 and 2007 at the playstation.com forums, and I would ask them if they would rather the hot air be coming out, or staying in. Hot air coming out means it's working. The PS2 slim felt a bit warmer as well, but they worked just fine. So do the PS3 slim units.

Yeah my room is airconditioned. Don't worry about the power supply getting hot, its odd for any electronic device not to get hot there.

The SLIM has half the components of a fat, the most efficient iteration of the CELL, and uses less electricity. It does not run hotter than a fat. I have a 60GB, 80GB non-BC, and a SLIM.

i have 3 different ps3's....launch 20,upped to 320g, chechlo1 80g, and 120g slim. I feel as though the temp is between 5 degrees or so for all 3...i dont think theres a difference between any really.

I use the hell outta all three too like leaving them on all night or gaming for more then a few hours straight. Just keep em clean and dust free and always do a proper shutdown.

It only feels hotter because the power supply is located there..there would be a problem if it wasn't warm to the touch. I've been using my Slim for around 6-7 hours per day since it released and I've have 0 problems of it overheating.

LOL I was thinking the same thing. I've only had a Slim, so I don't know how hot it gets compared to the fat models. It does, however, get very hot at the top left part(I think that's where the power supply is located.) after only 2 or 3 hours of use. During the first few months that I owned it, it would crash a lot on games like UC2, and it did overheat once or twice. It's been working perfectly for a while now, but that may be due to the fact that I don't play as much and not using the internet browser, which can get pretty unstable at times.

BS theres is a diffrence between obsessing over your ps3 like a weirdo and walking up to it constantly feeling the back of the unit and noticing its hot, like any normal eletronic would be and your unit actually turning it self off do to overheating. ive had my slim on for 48 hours straight no freezing , over heating or any problems in general this thread is garbage

The PS3 slim does not overheat faster. I've had the PS3 120giger Slim since launch. I play 5 day per week. Compared to my PS3 60giger (2007) The Ps3 slim hasn'toverheated on me. My Phat and Slim PS3's I takegood care of them. The phat series does seem to have way more heat generated when in use. But They haven't died on me. I've also had the PS3 40giger (The "best" model for not overheating of all PS3's) I don't know if that is true? My systems have never given me any difficulty.I've always used My Ps3's horizontal. Never standing them upright. Never had an issue with overheating.
