I haven't played the killzone series before, but they have the PSP one for free in the Welcome back program. So I figured this might be a good chance to try it out. But I hear it takes place after the first one. Is the story closely connected? Or can I jump right in and understand what's going on and have some fun?

I'm in the same boat. I've heard the story/game in the first are pretty weak, so I don't think you'll lose out on much by reading the plot online to get caught up.

I never played KZ 1 and I had no problem understanding the plot. I felt like it was kind of secondary to the gameplay anyway.

Edit: It's a great game too, btw.

I see, well that's cool I guess. I just downloaded it, and am about to give it a try.
