I've wondered that, as well. I have a feeling that it's not quite as bad as it's made out to be by Gamespot and some of the other review sites... It's by no means a great game, but i'm sure it's enjoyable. The biggest issue has to be the sixaxis flight controls, but I've never really had a problem with that in games like Warhawk.
Once it goes down in price I may have to pick it up.

It is not just the motion controlls
The general Targeting system is also busted
The Protect and escort missions also really bogg down the experience

too many people over exadurate whats wrong with the game. i had fun playing around on it a bit, but the game doesnt have enough value to justify 60 dollars for it.
the story just wasnt interesting, and the gameplay while was fine, isnt something i like to play for extended periods of time. its like a mission ever so often kind of game.
No its not that bad, although I think personally its worth more of a rent than a buy. For some reason that game is just missing that special something (and I don't mean the controlls).
Lair is fine, while the game isnt a tripple A steller, its not a bad game. Most of the bad reviews came down to morons who didnt know how to use the sixaxis and people who thought the dragon shouldnt have its own AI, which of course it needs to work. The games fine, go watch the videos of it on youtube.

i have alot of fun playing lair its one of my favorite games of the year.....i would say rent it atleast you could like it or not but if you own a ps3 its worth a try. if u want a good review of the game go to.

Lair is fun. It is not the greatest game but I like it. After you play GRAW 2, COD4, UT3 and need a break from shooters than Lair is a fun game to come back to. Graphics are some of the best on PS3. The only thing people really dislike is the control scheme. But if you have played Wii you are used to difficult control schemes in some games. Same here.
Obviously the controls aren't as bad as people make them out to be... because people are figuring them out and completing the game.
For the most part I thought Lair was pretty enjoyable. The controls are by no means as bad as they are made out to be. Some motions are a bit unresponsive such as the rapid turn around (where you tilt the sixaxis up). And the targeting system is not the best I've seen before, but overall it was an above average game. The graphics kicked a** too. I'd give a 7.5-8.0.
lair actually wasnt bad at all, I really like some of the mission, the spot light level, and the level where you fight that huge serphent thing in the water was EPIC, If they just put a different option for the use of analog sticks it could have gone from a 4.5 to a 7.0 and selll a lot better why they havent pathced this is beyond me??
I enjoyed my time playing it, I still play it every so often, I have no problem with the controls, sure its not AMAZING, but it's not as bad as some say, at least I don't think so, but people's opinions differ.
Its definetly worth a rent, i had a pretty good time with it. if you play within the constraints of the game its very tolerable, and can be alot of fun.

It's garbage. Any game that takes 3 days to "learn" the controls is trash. Don't listen to the fools that spent $60 on it and decided not to take it back for a refund.
Just rent it. I dont think the game is very long either....I wish they had put out a demo for the rest of us but I guess they didnt want us to see how bad the controls were, so that we wouldnt buy it.
Terrible game due to terrible controls, simply put. Sure, they work, but it's the fact that they just feel uncomfortable and a chore to use more than a gameplay innovation, and they are slightly bugged as well. Piece of trash imo.
I bought it out of morbid curiosity of amazon for $30. Only played the first level, doesn't seem unsalvageably bad, but I haven't bothered learning the controls either. Still have other ps3 games I'd much rather play.

kif it takes you any longer than the time to pick up the controller than you have some form of mental retardation.

it took me 6 minutes to learn how to control my dragon properly, and i had basically no problems other than collision detection with the controls other than that.
if it takes you 3 days to learn controls i would recommend you seek some sort of professional help.
