It great but I must tell you the MGS series is not for everyone, but this game is different from the other MGS games where it introduces new gameplay and graphically it looks awesome especially the characters lots of replay value and a lot of great cutscenes and they are very long.
If you like these things then go for it.
I like fast paced action game, but I do play Fps, Rpg, and racing games. I first saw a few cutscenes in MGS4 that got me saying "HOLY FO***** SH**," (Still I seen better). But gameplay came, it got me down of bit. Still, should I give it a chance? P.S sorry for another MGS4 greatness thread.90wushuman
Honestly, no I don't think it's that good
I think it's great game, but not great as the hype.
In a way it's been little disappointing. The whole "the game is in one blu-ray instead of 6 dvds" thing is overrated as you constantly have to install after each chapter. I'd rather swap dvds than wait 2 minutes for this thing to get installed. And you have to do this Everytime you play it.
Also the stealth element I feel like it is quite lost. This might first MGS that I can actually go Rambo and it's ok.
Not only that, MGS lost few charms it had. Codec was biggest step back I've seen. One of my favorite part of the franchise became just mere shell of it's former self.
Story telling also I felt like it lacked a bit. The 4 beauties was good concept but feels very out of placed. previously in the franchise, the bosses of MGS had special connection with the story. However the 4 beauties seems quite out of place with integratioln with the story and their story is quickly covered with brief summary through codec after you defeat them. No real influence with the story like previous MGS games. I mean in sense of overall meaning they add something, but for the plot, the beauties story means nothing. Which is different from previous MGS games.
The gameplay also feels bit clunky. The cover mechanic doesn't work too well as the reaction to getting out of the cover is too slow. There are good amount of stealth contral, but shooting control feels bit stiff.
My complaints might be minor things, but I think they are legit complaints and shows why MGS4 doesn't match it's hype.
Don't get me wrong, it's GREAT game, but not good as people says and most certainly not one of the best ever made.
the person above me is a xbox fanboy, 'the whole overrated 6 dvd thingy' what ever he said sounds he has a 360, cause if u have a ps3 your use to 1 disk not 10.

If people are looking for the "end all, be all" they'll never enjoy any game that ever comes out, as is apparent by the ridiculous number of self proclaimed critics on these forums.

everyone is a self-proclaimed critic...thats what makes these boards so great, for me anyway. It's true, if you always expect perfection you'll never enjoy a game...for me, the game is very well polished and presented...the but overall experience doesn't equal to the media reviews or majority of the people on the this board.

So you're saying you're right and everyone else, including major media, some even specific to the competition, are wrong?

I would never say my opinion is correct...as i highlighted above..."For me..."
yeah it is amazing just out of couriosity(misspelled) what game did you see that was better?POPEYE1716There are many that does a better job getting you hyped in cutscenes. That aside: YES IT IS WORTH IT! I'm a man that bashes many many many games that a lot of people love (Just ask someone), and this game is not one of them.
