I mean... the reviews arent that good, but people keep saying that its a must have for RPG lovers.. and I mean.. I really love RPGs, Ive enjoyed some of the Final Fantasies and a lot other RPGs... But is this like very frustrating? I dont like easy games, but I dont like extremely hard and frustrating games... I like to train so I can be better and beat harder bosses, but I dont like spending hours not knowing how to get stronger!

So I dont know if I should get it or not.

I'm interested in MHF2 myself, so I might berenting it fairly soon if I can.

1. You're posting on the GameSpot forums which would in fact make you at least some what of a nerd.

2. You have invested over a thousand hours into a game and you supposedly have a life? I think not.

to say that it is a must for RPG fans is ABSURD!! absolutely ..I would never ever consider MHF an RPG Ever, , and dont give me the line about you role play a hunter...because you could say that for alot of games...MH is so wrongly done that only fanboys will like it...it has NO STORY ..and dont tell me it does because it really doesnt...the camera is not that good(mostly because of the psp) load times are horrible Unless you turn on background loading and that drains so much battery power that the game it self recomends playing while plugged in with that feature....so as this is not really a BAD game its not an RPG fan must but ..to say that is absurd...say something like an Action Adventure Stratagy game..period..

This game is not that great imo but its not that bad and you will most likely(not always ) either love it or hate it so be carefull!(again renting is a bad way to kow because this game seemed great at first when I had it but got really dull with no story but thats just me..I couldnt get real into it)

Sorry for so much talking but I just want to really help!

Goodnight everyone I hope you dont all hate me know lol

OMG

people still think MHF2 is a RPG??

NO ITS NOT A RPG

ITS an Action game, real hardcore action game.

MHF2 has nothing to do with RPG, not even close.

I agree that it is not an RPG, that is like calling God of War an RPG. Yet I do love this game with a passion, let me break down basically what you do.

You Eat Meat
You Pick Up A Big Weapon And Kill Awesome Looking Dinosaurs, Dragons, and other Beasties
You Carve Off Their Body Parts
You Turn Their Body Parts Into Bigger And Better Weapons And Armor
You Kill Even Bigger And Cooler Looking Beasties

It seems like there is not alot there, but planning out a strategy to kill some of the harder monsters can become somewhat of an art. It is VERY addicting, at least in my case, and I simply can not get enough of it.

I agree.. I would also like to add that I personally dont see the point in playing MHF games (Of course, due to my disappointing experience with MHF1, I wont ever bother buying the second one).. You fight the (essentially) same monsters over and over again on a handful of small maps, so you can get better armour and weapons.. And that's basically it.

This would make a great online game.. But since that feature is lacking, I just dont see the point. It's like playing an online RPG like Guild Wars alone.

dude

MHF2 is not RPG, stop comparing it to some stupid MMORPG

MHF2 actually need skills to play unlike guildwar or wow.

and its an ACT game, killing giant dragons with different weapons is fun and it needs playskill.

some people dont like MHF2 because its too hard for them, they cant even pass the first boss.

The reason why I'm comparing MHF to Guild Wars/MMORPG's has nothing to do with the fact that MHF is not a traditional RPG. I compared them because the basic goals in these games very similar, those being, getting better armour and weapons. In an online game, I can understand this but in a offline game...

no

the basic goal in MHF2 is not to get better gear, its to have fun killing monsters with the gear you get through questing.

in GW or WOW, if you got good gear, then you are god.

in MHF2, the first, easiest boss can still kick your butt even if you got the best armor and weapon.

it take skills, its an Action game.

I'm talking about the goal in the game (to be the "best" Monster Hunter by getting better equipment etc.), not about the goal of playing the game.

All games aim to be fun to play, so one could say that every game has the goal of being fun.

Dont mix these two up.

Blah blah blah... Ok bottom line MHF 2 is a game that you need time to enjoy, by time I mean your entire life. If you're a kid or someone who doesn't have to work or socialize then by all means this is great cause you can literally be married to this game because even the most minute thing takes foreverrrr. But if you are an adult with work and family, and a life then steer clear of this game, it just takes way too much investment in your life to be enjoyable.

Ask yourself do you have100s and100s of hours to spare, if the answer is no then leave this game. As for me I barely get to game on weekends, so really MHF 2 is worthless to me.

The game sucks .... boring, horribly balanced, will do nothing but make you frustrated when you character doesnt respond to your inputs due to the ridiculous lag. The monsters, however, dont seem to have any lag issues ... have fun

It´s the worst single player game ever, I mean, the worst single player game ever made. It´s the most frustrating action game, I mean, it´s all about butt-stabbing, it´s more frustrating than Pursuit Force, I mean, the most frustrating single player game ever....EVER...

It does not has an infrastructure game mode, only ad-hoc, so if you have xlink kai, this game is a must have. Although, you can download some extra stuff.

One of the best multiplayer game ever...

just to let u know there is no leveling in this game, the only reason u would redo some quests is to get materials to make more weapons, armour, etc.

Well, people who play it go are either of the two extremes. Either its one of the best RPGs ever, or it is one of the most boring repetative games ever. I just happened to like it quite a lot.

And to those who claim this is not a RPG, that is completely wrong. Role Playing Game. In a sense, this has you PLAYING the ROLE of a hunter in a GAME. It basically immerses you into the game by making you not only take down huge monsters, but also do the mundane things involved to prepare. You get better armor and weapons over time and you slowly grow not only in stats (due to weapons and armor), but you also get better as a player who pretty much made the character as a reflection of themselves. Other more "traditional" RPGs are RPGs only because you are that character for a long time and watch them develop the story and get stronger. A more accurate description of the game would be a action-RPG.

in the grand scheme of things it's actually not a bad game especially if you take the time to learn the ins and outs of the gameplay. in a way, you can think of MHF as a "pseudo-MMORPG" in terms of how long it takes to build up your characters in order for them to be considered good, like any other RPG would ask of you to do.

lol its true that its not an RPG, but the Japanese version is always so much damn better, they also have the damn INFASTRUCTURE online play, unlike here its sucks i say we all just go to japan and get it from there, its not fair they get it and we dont, but its an ok game if you're up to it, or have friends that have the same game, anyway, just because you play it for 1000 hours doesnt mean you're a nerd........ that game's been out for a while its easy to pick up and play on the go, and he said he has 1000 between the first and second MFH games so the first one's been out for a loooooooooong time and just 1000 hours is nothing get over yourself thinking everyone's a nerd cause they're playing a game.........

to say that it is a must for RPG fans is ABSURD!! absolutely ..I would never ever consider MHF an RPG Ever, , and dont give me the line about you role play a hunter...because you could say that for alot of games...MH is so wrongly done that only fanboys will like it...it has NO STORY ..and dont tell me it does because it really doesnt...the camera is not that good(mostly because of the psp) load times are horrible Unless you turn on background loading and that drains so much battery power that the game it self recomends playing while plugged in with that feature....so as this is not really a BAD game its not an RPG fan must but ..to say that is absurd...say something like an Action Adventure Stratagy game..period..

Blarg. I think that mhf/mhf2 is a necessity for people who have hundreds and hundreds of hours to spare with their friends who also have PSPs. MHF multi-player is awesome although there are few bugs, but I guess its inevitable for the game to have a few glitches here and there during on-line play. Those who haven't yet tried mhf multi-player, you haven't lived fully as a hunter yet. domo.

I love RPGs too. MFH2 is fun the first few quests you do but then it gets kind of boring. Its really repetitive and the load times suck.

MHF2 is a good game.. BUT.. it gets boring after the you finished the Normal Quests.. not Guildquests.. only good thing is maybe when you play it via WiFi and some friends.. but that's pretty much everything
