Im thinking of buying modnation racers, maybe as well as KZ3 or either one. For those who bought and played the game, do you guys enjoy it? I found it quite interesting creating tracks, mods, karts, sharing them and downloading others' creations (sounds nice to me :))

It sounds awesome to me yet the review scores keep me from rushing to the store as soon as possible and get it. Ive read them and basicly the negatives are terrible AI, long loading times, and the game is 'hard' for some of them (mostly user reviews). Those dont seem to be a big deal but the metacritics is only 82. :(

Not a super bad score, but its only a barely acceptable score for me. Im not a fan of racing games and I felt bored playing Mario Karts. But this game just somehow interests me. Maybe becuase you can use shields in Modnation? :P I enjoyed drifting in Modnation more than any other racing games.

Even I just feel this game is special from the others, I dont feel confident that I could keep playing it and not throw it away like what I did with Mario Karts. Adding up all the awesome things in Modnation still cannot give me a full confidence. I need to some comments from you guys to help me make a decision. Thank you. :D

I tried the beta and hated it. I prefer the GT5 / F1 2010 type of racing games.

If you want a fun kart racing game and are good at or want to try creating mods/karts/tracks, then yes. I love playing this game and enjoy creating things. Some of the stuff that people create is just amazing. The game has both online and a campaign. However, creating things is very tedious. I spent 4 hours one day creating one mod. This can throw people off. However if you want to just fun race its good for that too. Especially now they dropped the price.

It's the closest thing to a new Crash Team Racing you're going to get, so I'd go for it. It's a really fun game on it's own, and racing is pretty fine tuned.

Its a solid kart racing game. If you're not really into creating your own stuff there are plenty of tracks, mods, and cars to download that will always keep you busy with something new. The Gamespot review gave it an 8/10, and I agree with that. Its a very fair score. So if you're fine with that, I'd say get it.

I contemplated on that for a while. Then I finally bought a new copy on Ebay for $22 a couple weeks ago. It was fun for a few days but I set it aside. Its a good game and there are always online races still. But I will tell you what ruined it for me. The first is I haven't gotten into the creation phase and probably won't. Which that is a big part of the game. I like being able to download other tracks but eventually they start to seem more of the same. Ramps, boosts, pick up rockets, then repeat. The second thing is that I bought the unlock all pack for $2.99 and that greatly took away from the game. Whenever I start to play career I have to keep clicking all the way back to the beginning and remember where I left off because every thing was unlocked. And now its not exciting to win a race and there is no sense of achievement. So if you get it and look forward to the career mode it may be best to pass on the unlock all pack. Only recommended the pack if you want to jump straight into creating. But to be honest, I do like the game and concept, but I would rather have my $22 back.
