it's coming outin november, and yes it should be worth a buy if the campaign is good and the multiplayer doesnt get plagued with hackers early on
you ever heard the expression you cant teach an old dog new tricks? well the modern warfare series is starting to become a very old dog, so no I probably wont buy the game.
MW3 is a CoD game being made by Activision, ergo, it will be Awesome with a capital 'a'. It's just that Treyarch ruins the CoD name with terribly optimized, poor response, laggy netcode, ugly games like Black Ops and World at War. I'd say Black Ops is even worse than what Battlefield 3 will be, and we all know how that game is gonna end up.
No. Battlefield 3 comes out a couple of weeks before it and Skyrim comes out almost the same day as it.
For me, it's largely dependant on whether or not the game has a solid campaign mode. The MP, we all know what that's going to be like. There will be no surprises, and those who care will begin to prestige over and over. But I'm truly interested in seeing what they do with the story and the SP. I'm pretty burnt out on warfare in the modern age, I prefer something like WaW where it gives you a perspective on historical events... Nothing as deep or meaningful as reading James Bradley's "FlyBoys", but it allows an eye into the confusion and fear of battle.
I have always liked CoD games in the past (prior to this gen) for one reason: They have given the player a sense of what it must be like to be under fire in a huge conflict. People and violence everywhere, nowhere to hide, the need to gain ground and hold it. Recent entries like MW have gotten away from what impressed me in CoD2 and the like - The siege of Leningrad. The beaches of Normandy. That feeling of being in a maelstrom, the fear.
I think a lot of CoD games lately have lost that sense of "hugeness". I would like to see that return.
CoD eclipsed "Medal of Honor" back in the day by giving us something we hadn't seen before, and didn't consider possible outside of PC gaming. "Finest Hour" on my PS2 was a revelation... and I think the focus on MP (by devs AND players alike) has drained off some of the magic the CoD brand used to denote.
If MW3 makes me feel like I'm in a much bigger event with more on the line, then it's a buy. The MP is the MP. But the GAME is the crux of the biscuit.
