So I went to my Game Data Utility and I found a motorstorm file in there. Now I don't own Motorstorm or played it on my PS3 so I find it weird that there's a Motorstorm file in there. Is my 40GB use? I bought it new for $399. What do you guys think?

That is extremely odd. It's possible someone returned it, and they put it back on the shelf, where ever you purchased it. Did it look factory sealed when you first opened it?

What the hell...lol where'd you buy it from? If it gives you any more trouble, just exchange it or give Sony a call. Other than that, the 40 GB should be fine...but might have been used if this is true.

I bought it from Ebgames aka Gamestop. When I first opened it everything looked new and the box was taped I think? I wasn't really paying attention if there was a seal because I was excited at the moment. So you guys think its used? Mother.....

I mean, if it works fine, then there's no reason to worry about it. It's possible someone could have gotten as a gift, used it once or twice, then returned it. I mean, there's really no way to tell if there's a factory seal, just that everything looks nice and neat and all that, btw. Either way, just delete it. No real cause for alarm.

Also when I first bought it and went to check how many GB I have left and it says 33/37 GB. At that time I didn't think anything about it, but now it seem kind of fishy. And does anybody know if the Spiderman 3 movie came with a booklet? Cause mine didn't.

That's normal. The PS3's system files and all of that stuff that it needs to work takes up some of the hard drive space immediately out of the box. I have the 80 gig, and it was missing some gigs as well. The PS3 works a lot like a computer, so that's why the operating files take up space.

I figured since I had 37GB left the 3GB was used for the XMB and stuff not 7GB. I know that it works fine and stuff but damn I feel cheated.

If it everything works fine, then its not a problem However, if it was used, you might want to talk to sales rep that sold you that PS3. Coz I bought mine at gamestop as well and I got an 80GB used for the price of abrand new 40GB

That's kinda strange to have a game file you don't own so it could have been a number of reasons for this, but all these reasons should have had some kind of discount for the system. If I happen to find a demo or floor model of any product that is being taken off the floor I try to get that one because they are usually priced at about half the retail price sometimes even more than that. I saw a 60 inch rear projection TV sell for about $400.00 a while back.

I think I would be on the phone as soon as I found this out asking to talk to a manager asking what would they like to do for me at that point. As for the HDD space being less than stated that happens with ALL HDD regardless of what it is in.
