I'm having problems with my PS3 lately. Sometimes it shuts down after 15 minutes of playing. I start Odin Sphere and within 15 minutes my system shuts down and there is a blinking red light (indicating overheat). I noticed that when it shuts down, the fan is not active (I almost can't hear anything...). When the fan is active, my PS3 will never shut down even after hours of play. Somehow, my PS3 deems not important to always start the fan for a PS2 game. Once it's started though, I can play Odin Sphere as a long as I want. Anyone got a similar problem?
Mine had the same issue. Sony sent the box and it should arrive Thursday. But i never payed attention to the sounds of the fan. At one point i did and i really couldnt hear anything so i guess we are on the same point. Im happy sony is just giving me a new one. I got mine at launch (nov 17th) when did you get yours. Oh and another thing, I watched 2 Blu Ray movies but Motorstorm i can only play for like 8 minutes, and Warhawk Beta (which is F...ing Awesome BTW) lasts me only 4 minutes or so
Actuyally if this is stopping you from buying a PS3... it's pretty dumb if you want my opinion. PS3 is a safe console compared to it's true competitor. I had no problem with mine since I bought it in March. And as you see anyone who create a topic with a faulty PS3 get it remplaced and rarely repaired by Sony... No MS cheesecake here.
