I'm thinking of picking up this game in a few weeks, but I've been hearing reports of Oblivion freezing PS3s. That's kinda lame, and I don't want it screwing up my PS3, is this a real issue or isolated incidents? Does it hurt your gameplay?
If you like RPG's and haven't played Oblivion, you're missing out. End of discussion. Run, do not walk, and buy the game for your platform of choice.

it has less loading times and less freezes than the 360 version not to mention imporved graphics so its pretty safe all games freeze at one point or another

I'll amend that to significantly decreased loading times, slightly improved graphics, and almost no crashing.
I've put in about 50 hours now and I've had just one crash: Umbra beating me down. That's it.
I'd definitely recommend it. Great game and hasn't harmed my system one iota.Â
I bought this game with my PS3 and was dissapointed to be honest. I love RPGs but I guess this one was a little too open ended for me. It just seemed as if the story wasn't moving at all. Great looking game though. Just a little too open ended for me. I'm hoping the PS3 will get something like Fable. That would own!

No bugs besides the Umbra crash for me.
I do get the occasional slowdown as I am a cheater (duping + constant effect glitch). Let's just say duping 125 lockpicks all at once is not handled very well. But even then, once I managed to fight thru the lag and pick up all the lockpicks, still no crash!
A rock solid experience thus far with both the console and the game!Â
Oblivion has frozen on me several times but hasnt screwd up my system, freezes after an auto save so i always start where i felt off. But other than that I highly recommend this game, played it for a month ant i pretty much have evry thing beat kicks a** being level 37:D
Performance issues are due to the developers not the consoles themselves... the game is pretty good. I like RPGs but not that type so I just rented it a few times. If you liked the other Elder Scrolls you will love this one for sure!
