Many says it is. How fun is it in PS3? I wanna get the PC version cuz its cheaper, but then I got a 50" HDTV, so I was wondering it might look nicer.

Anyway, graphic wise, which is better? I got the 8600 GT in PC(Core 2 Duo). Though, I dont really care for mods, never play them.

Any comments and suggestions would be appreciated!

I played the PC version myself. Having seen the ps3 version the graphics seem pretty much identical. The PS3 has alot more power than is needed to run oblivion.

As far as which platform to get it for I would have to say go with the PC. Simply because the keyboard layout suits the game better in my opinion and the fact that you can use in game console commands to do virtually anything you want. For instance you can type in a command to create a copy of your character and actually fight yourself (^_^)

That being said, the game is amazing and is a must buy. Get the GOTY edition too cause shivering isles rocks hard (^_^)

Well, I dont really plan on doing any thing outside playing the game for what it is.

Anyway, is the HD version for the console makes any difference? 720p/1080i for my TV.

If you want my personal opinion, I'll give it to you. I thought that I would enjoy this game and I tried really hard to get into it, but I gave up after 10 hours or so. Its so boring, the combat is absolute crap, and its just way too long for my tastes. I'd rather play a game that lasts anywhere from 10-20 hours tops.......100+ hours....no thanks. I just don't have the time or commitment for a game that long....although, I make exceptions for the Legend of Zelda games. I spent 70 hours on Twilight Princess.

I'm not going to get into why you should get it because its the type of game you either hate or love. I love it and have logged over 200 hours in the game of the year edition. So for me it's worth it. It may not be worth it for you.

Get the PS3 version if you dont care for mods. Apparently the PS3 version is better than the 360 version, performance wise (framerate, popup etc). It'll looke great on your new HDTV. This is a great game and I highly recommend you get it. Get the GAme of the Year edition. It took me about 120hours to fully complete and that was just the regular edition. Definately worth your while! Best game of 2006. Better than Gears of war.

Well I agree with you that games should be play the way they are intended. But after you have spent 100+ hours completing everything the game has to offer it gives you some fun options to toy around with.

The graphics are going to look the same based on what you said your videocard was. I played it on PC with everything maxed out with a 7900 GS and it ran smooth as silk. I really don't think it is going to look any better on the PS3, and again i have to say that using a keyboard instead of a controller is really a plus in this type of game (^_^)

I agree. It *is* a good game, but sort of tedious, and long. Back when I got it (near the 360 launch) there was nothing else to play, and I logged 40 hours in... just doing basically nothing.

yea its deffinetly an awsome game IMO. i would get the ps3 version because i have the pc and my brother has the ps3 one and i just like the controller better for some things. and i just never find myself using a computer for games even though its more than capable and it runs everything at its top specs. so PS3 version for sure but GOTY and original are both good since the origanil is only $30

While I agree that it is an *amazing* game, it isn't next gen at all. I won't go look up the PC release date but i think it has been out for over 2 years.

I am really... REALLY looking forward to the next one. When you look at how far Oblivion came from Morrowind... Man the next one is gonna be mindblowing. THAT will be the next get RPG (^_^)

No. I mean, I beat the game probably 3 times, so I obviously like it, and it has a ton of content. It just moves SO slow, I like my games fast-paced and crazy, like DMC4, and UT3... thats just me though...

I didn't like the game mechanics. Block Block Attack will get you through the game. The spells also never felt effective as healing pots. Damage spells were always much weaker than my physical strike. When I got to the point where I had to clear like 7 or 8 Oblivion gates straight, I quit and sold the game for $10.

I shoulda ebayed it, could have gotten more. Oh well.

However, I think Oblivion is either love it or hate it. There are really no bounds to what you can do, and there are so many quests and things to do. Also on a nice HDTV, it is a sight to behold. Standing on a mountain side when the leaves are orange and red like fall, watching the Imperial City during sunset was breath taking.

Definitely get it, and I'd recommend the ps3 version. The game plays very well on consoles. Also, if you get the original ps3 version (non goty) it includes the first exspansion and is only about $30 now. Then if you like it, you can get the shivering isles exspansion later, or if you don't like it, you can trade it in at somewhere like Gamestop. If you get the pc version, and don't like it, there's not much you can do about it.

What I don't like is how easy it is to do some things..for example, if you get yourself 100% chameleoned, you can stab someone without anyone ever being able to see, or close all the oblivion gates problem free.... theres no challenge.... also the female characters in that game look more like the same as the dudes.

yeah, 100%cham does kind of make the game a cakewalk, but it's not like you just get 100%cham without having to work for it...

yeah, morrowind and oblivion are the same in that respect. You can enchant armor so that your godlike and there is no challenge.

Also I agree with Wong that playing as a caster always seemed a little gimp. I personally always went the way of the thief ( which i think is definately the greatest way to go.)

The game can definately be imbalanced at times but it's your choice how imbalanced you want to make it. Although I am going to forever declare final fantasy as the best RPGs of all time the elder scrolls games over the last few years have given players a wide open world that differs from typical RPGS.

It is great because the world is so interactive, you actually feel like your playing a part in it. Add to that the fact that the decisions you make change the game world and you have a recipie for masterpiece.

GOD I am havinga hard time not re-installing it right now lol

Listen to the posters that said it's a "love it or hate it" game. It really is. I love RPGs so I followed everyones advice and got this game. Unfortunately, after trying 3 times to get into the game I really and truly couldn't get past the complete and utter bordem that is Oblivion. Please, I urge you not to waste money buying the game until you at least rent it or try a friends copy.

It really is a game that takes alot of time to get into. But that's what alot of role playing gamers are looking for. It is truly an immersive experience.

It is hands down one of the top 5 games I have ever played. Well worth the money. Buy it.

Oblivion is my most played game on the PS3. It is fantastic.

I'm currently playing two characters, a Nord fighter and a Khajit thief/rogue. I've been using the Nord for only the main quest and the Khajit for only side quests.

Currently I've logged about 25+ hours with the Nord and about 50+ hours with the Khajit. There's still tons of stuff for me to do on both characters.

The game looks very pretty on an HDTV (it runs 720p) although it doesn't look as good as titles like Uncharted or Ratchet & Clank.
