i imagine that little timmy and billy racist wont be able to easily convice mom and dad to buy a 600$ system. besides, the people that typically buy ps3s are probably more mature gamers in the sense that theyre willing to a buy a pricier system. mirite?

In my experience it is. In fact, my experience with Live compared to PSN helped me in making my decision to trade my 360.

Im 13 and paid for half and games. Thus, I am teh pwnage. Lol, but PSN is as simple as logging in and doing your stuff, friends, store and or games. And the store takes your money very nicely also.

No matter what system you own you will always come across rude people. it's a fact and there is nothing you can do about it. The 360 has some filtering and zoning techniques that come in handy and there is always the effective mute button. Either way no matter what systemandeven on the PC there will always be rude people.

there are people who will tell you they never came across rudeness on PSN and some will say the same for Live butnot everyone will have standards as yourself and you cannot change that.

I've heard jerks on both systems. Not to mention, if you can afford a $400 gaming system, $600 isn't that big a stretch. My parents would have never bought me either when I was a kid. Another thing is probably 95% of people on XBL have headsets. It seems like barely half the people on PSN have one. Maybe kids aren't interested in buying headsets for the PS3.

It's a bit friendlier and more mature...for now. Muahahaha...ha. ;)

The key to a good online experience, I think, is finding people you enjoy playing with and sticking with them. But you'll find rotten people everywhere.

most definately amore calm atmosphere than 360. however that could easily be attributed to the fact that there are less ppl on psn..thus less racist 10 years old, or the fact that not as many ppl use the headsets however either reason the answer is yes the ps3 has a much less "dramatic" online experience. however not everyone can be perfect...

Well as of right now, everyone knows xbox live is way more fun, and obviously bigger. So you are going to come across more rude people on XBL just because there is more people in general. But all the games that i have for PS3 that have online i play, and theres some rude people but it's not like really bad and annoying like half the people on XBL. But yeah, like someone has said already you're always going to come across rude people, it's just part of life and part of gaming.

I agree with that statement. But if i ever come across racist and annoying people on XBL, i just set them on Ignore and way i will never be matched up with them in another game (regardless of the game). There is also a global mute option for annoying players.

I've not played a PS3 game online, so i dont know how the people act.

And TC, I really dont think money has anything to do with it. I've seen poor racist and wealthy ones.

Also, the PS3 is not that much more expensive than the X360 to assume that PS3 owners have more money than X360 owners. The X360gameattach rate proves that owners have the money.

PSN may only be nicer because there are less people using mikes than on Xbox Live.  Nevertheless, I still prefer PSN because the banter is at least still civil.  Xbox Live especially with Gears of War is a scary scary place.  I'm a SICK INDIVIDUAL but there was this one guy I speficially remember saying such horrible things it has scarred my psyche.  I mean that guy probably should have been locked up somewhere.
Plus PSN is a friendlier environment because you don't have as much trouble connecting to games and the connection seems a lot stronger.  The only thing I don't like is that I suck ass at Resistance because it takes an ungodly amount of shots to kill someone and that seems to be the game everyone loves.

You are generalizing people that play on Live. These kind of things can happen on any platform.I was playing RFOM and these guys kept cursing and i personally do not like to cursing in my ears. On Live all i do is change my Zone to Family and I am matched with family oriented individuals.

I haven't had anything racist said to me on the PSN as of yet, but tons of crap was being thrown at me and my peoples on the xbox live. I guess you can't escape it, but like I said "I haven't come across it on the PSN yet"

im guessing since PS3 costs about $700 (console + games), you wont find as many retards (pardon my expression) on PSN. probably upper class people or hardcore gamers that dont talk that much **** online

Thanks, Longhorn (UT yeah). But i dont think that 12 years olds are really purchasing the device anyway. Its their parents, who have the money.

Lets revisit this post in a year after the PS3 has some mass appeal games. I experienced the same thing wiht the X360 when i first got it (my first game was GRAW). Everybody was nice and respectful. Now, not so much. But the large majority of people a nice.

PSN much better so far since it costs so much and plus you have to buy a headset. But there also alot less people on PSN and even less with headsets while every little kid and their buddy has xboxlive headset and they all feel the need to tell you how to play the game and that your gay

I have yet to hear anyone on PSN curse another player out say anything racist or call someone gay or tell them how to play the game.

I don't know if it is friendlier, what i do know is that it has much more style than that green, white and silver color scheme of Xbox Live.

I think the PSN has less and seemingly more mature people because if you buy one of the two more expensive packages (either one that includes a HDD which is required to go one XBL) you also get a free headset. So lots of people who wouldn't otherwise give a crap got one anyway and most (i wouldassume) people who bough a 360 now have a headset. With the PS3, you have to make the extra effort, and drop the extra cash, to buy a headset, which I think filters out people who aren't using one seriously (eg: for reasons other than to curse and insult others. Rather, people who buy one seem more likely to do so for team-chat and other such tactics) Just a guess.
