No way the PS3. PSP doesn't support Normal Mapping and can only utilize much smaller textures. After close inspection I believe GTA Vice City Stories looks a little better than GTA 3 for PS2. FF7: Crises Core looks on par with Kingdom Hearts. Developers have learned to sqeeze every drop out of the PSP's graphical prowess, Which is only about 50% as powerful as the PS2. I like to think of it as a portable Dreamcast.
Now the question is: with the hardware it has can it surpass the PS2 and get closer to the PS3 in the future?Woofie_kun
In the future, anything is possible. When I was playing my original gameboy back in the day, I would have never imagined something likethe PSP was even possible. New gen systems in combination with high-def TV's are freakin amazing. What's the next technology? Something that will actually be 3d and make you feel like you're in the TV?? I don't know, I just hope I live long enough to find out.

That just about sums it up. PS3 is on a whole different level than anything else out there.
I'm sure sometime in the future, there will be a handheld system that will have close to PS3 graphics. Maybe on on this version of PSP, but someday. I mean, when you were back playing Atari and NES did you think you'd be playing anything as amazing as the games you're playing now? We'll just have to wait and see.
Yea... it sort of has to get to PS2 level before PS3. Seriously. Right now PSP titles are around Dreamcast level (which basically means early early PS2).

the psp is not even close to having ps3 graohics. and wrong it could match up with a next gen console... the Wii. The wii has trashy graphics that are probably worst than ps2. if you compare photos of smackdown vs. raw 2008 for wii and psp, you'll see that the graphics are almost the same
Yeah, the PSP will never be close to the PS3 graphic wise, because of the hardware, and software. Now, they can start working on a PSP 2 which who knows if it'll ever happen, and they can have the graphics of that suprass the PS2 easily, but I'm not so sure that it'll be even close to the PS3 because you'd still need something as big as the PS3 to have all those processors and other hardware in there. I'd say that the CG scenes in games on the PSP, look like the gameplay graphics on the PS3 but that's about it.
when is first came out it was around ps graphics. probably because most of the first were ports from the ps. it is geting better. but it can only get so good before it hits its limit.
Actually I think that psp has certain games that look better than ps2 games, also the psx games from the playstation store all look a lot cleaner now then they did on ps1 too, so they must have done some modifiying to how the games look.
If you've played Crisis Core or watched the PSP version of Advent Children then you'll agree with me when I say this:THE PSP GRAPHICS CAN BE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING COMPARED BESIDE THE PS2 but they're all right beside the PS3

Just inching past PS1 graphics? The PSP has many games that surpass most PS2 titles, and just aboute every single PSP game has better graphics than the PS1 era. Go play some PS1 games and see what I mean.

I never said that the TV component was to be compared. Sure it looks crap.
But I am talking about within that small screen. So that SMALL screen does ATLEAST have better graphhics than PS2 (many titles not all!). AND no doubt about that...
I see some wii games also on psp. So it makes me wonder how much can they squeeze out of the psp phat.

Lol, they are probably done by the same development team, wii/ps2/psp development is one tier and ps3/360 another. Actually the psp's games look better than some of the crap i've seen on wii.
Love the PSP but it really cant match graphics with the PS3, the PSP cutscenes arent even close to ps3 gameplay especially on a 1080p hdtv.
PSP does blow the PSone out the water, just look at the syphon filter series on the PSone vs the Syphon Filter series on the PSP or tekken on the PSP vs Tekken series on the PSone.
PSP can match the PS2 and the Wii, just look at game like Prince or Persia Twin Swords/Rival Swords, ManHunt 2.
Who know how good the graphic on the PSP will be in another year or 2, games alway look better the longer a system has been out.
its already at PS2 quality as of now i just finished playing the God of War demo and its AMAZING!!! looks really good, but becuase of that im scared that the game is gonna be really short but oh well hopefully this inspires capcom to bring DMC to the PSP FINALLY!!!
