It's a beast of a handheld system, I'll give you that. But it's lacking in the game department again...
If developers just had more development time, I'm pretty sure that games like Portable Ops, Chains of Olympus, Daxter etc would have been much,much better.
I think it's overrated. Some of the games are great, but it really isn't the best user experience. Constant loading, occasional psn store problems, and silly firmware updates. Portables should be quick--turn it on and you're playing games in a few seconds. The Library may be underrated, but the hardware is certainly overrated.
It's certainly not a device that can offer someone a diverse and lengthy library but it does have some standouts.
The handheld can do a lot of things other then gaming that some may find handy if they're willing to deal with the issues that come up using it for it's other modes
Everything it does is one step forward and one step back. Perfect example is the PSPGo with digital distribution but then not offering the entire library digitally from launch.
I'm happy with mine because I've never thought of it as a primary device, if I did that I'd be unhappy with it. Instead it's a 3rd or 4th option depending on the situation. It has a role to fill and I only use it in those roles. I don't try to force it into situations where it's weakness would show
Greatly overrated by it's users. And unfortunately very underrated by developers. So much potential and yet so little faith.. A balance in that could fix both. I do see some rising change in recent games being released this year.
Overrated...underrated...what it comes down to is this: Any platform (including, but not limited to gaming) is only as good as the games released for it (why do you think Linux remains on the fringe?!) I will be the first to admit that I haven't been playing my DSi as much since I got the my PSP 3000, I just preferred its game availability over the Go, but I suspect that I will be going back to my DSi once Infinite space comes out.
It is pretty clear the west has abandoned the PSP, but the sales in Japan are fine, indeed. I guess I do prefer bread crumbs from Japan, but to me it is severely underrated. There are too many good titles for people to say, "there really is nothing." If people want western games, they should beg a western company to make a competent hand held to compete with what is on the market if they are not collectivized enough to make games on the PSP.
It couldn't be overated because everyone gives it @#$% all the time.

I think it's surprising that it does. I thought I'd be a sole case in this, but it seems the community is frowning on the lack of quality. As are people worldwide, after I noticed this. There are a TON of people selling PSPs, most even are hacked. I would however, like to emphasize that Sony is making a nice effort of turning things around this year.
I think its underated I play it more than my ps 2

The amount of time spent on a console depends on the user's preference. As for me, I have about 2 or 3 PS2 titles left unfinished, and I'm only using my PS2 once or twice per week. Personally, I feel more comfortable lying on my sofa while watching TV.
Underrated for sure. It's not the psp that makes a game garbage, it's the games that makes the game garbage. When an amazing game comes out, it still amazes me what psp can do. Look at Dante's Inferno... Virtually the same as the console version, minus some resolution and fps but wow...
