I mean, does it have some frightful moments like in the 4th when that dude on fire jumped out of the fridge or when those slow-and-heavy-breathing monsters called the Regeneradors attack you. Or when you get slowly decapitated for the first time.

Those were the times in RE4 where I jumped.

What about the fifth?

It's already released in some places of the world plus there's a demo out, although I do not know whether it's long or representative of the game.

There was some level of fear in RE4, even if it was only small. I've been watching RE5 gameplay on Justin TV all the way through and from what I've watched it doesn't look that scary compared. Mainly dew to the co-op and most of the areas just don't strike me as scary at all. The survival horror aspect is zilch as there is ammo placed basically everywhere you go. It's more of an action game than anything, even the music doesn't get you in that scary mood.

Yeah I think it'll look a lot like RE4 in the "scares" department, which is a few good ones, but not enough to be a "horror" game.

That being said, I think it will be more "gory" than the 4th.

RE4 was scary?

It was an awesome game, dont get me wrong, but soon after i began playing it i started to just approach it as if it was a regular shooter. It was stressful, ill give it that. Especially when you were low on ammo and health items and you had a wave of enemies coming at you, but it wasn't scary.

Well it's pretty much the same with improvements. I can't wait to get my hands on it because RE4 was pure AWESOMENESS!

If you want scary go with DeadSpace the new king of the survivor horror genre in my opinion. RE5 will without a doubt be good, but not scary. I heard that download game Siren is pretty scary too.

Im sorry to burst your bubble but RE4 was'nt that scary anyway, the older ones were scarier. It seems more like an action game to me. As for which one was scarier I would hope RE5 is because I still loved RE4 but it would be better if it was scarier.

Most likely RE5 is scarier because there is a lot more enemies and they always gang up on you in the demo, and due to the fact you can't walk kand shoot it gets more intense. If you downloaded the demo you would have an idea.

On the Wii one, it would make me jump sometimes. But no, RE5 is not gonna be close to survival horror genre. Too bad it decided to go to Action

Resident Evil never scared me. Zombies are pretty lame in my opinion - especially when they're just normal people with yellow teeth.

IGN said it was more of a action than a horror game. But back to the topic. No, it won't be as scary. It's not even scary. But I do remember the regenerators. I had to pause the game and and take deep breaths whenever I heard one breathe down the hall.

I'm in the same exact boat as you. I wasn't scared at all until those damn regenerators. Damn those things. They are seriously the freakiest thing I've seen in a game. Every time I decide to play it, I remember I am at the jail part at the end and I persuade myself to play something else. I'm gonna try to man up and beat the last Regenerator tomorrow. Running past it, muting the TV FTW. :P Everything about them is creepy as hell. Especially when you hear it breathing and can't find it. :( RE5 better not have them.

Thank God for Sheva then!

NYCPrincess

Well I'm not implying the game itself was scary, because it was not, overall. But like I said it had some moments, like 4 or 5 of them (fire dude in the fridge, regeneradors, dr. Salvador), where I either jumped or had my heart racing, but we're talking a total of like 30 minutes in a 10-15 hours storyline. So, no, I'm not talking "SCARY" but more like "defining moments".

Oh and I'm one of those who though old RE games were more "survival horror" than 4 or 5 but not that frightening either, just a different feeling altogether. And I like both styles.

You'll have to just wait and see. I get the impression that this game won't be scary at all, but more of a thriller. RE4 wasn't really scary either, I think the last scary RE game was the remake for the GameCube.

Now, they're just people with yellow teeth before they had bite marks, missing skin, missing parts of their body and didn't throw $hit! I think part 1 was the scariest in my opinion.

This is just a guess(since RE5 isn't out yet) but I'd say it's less scary than RE4. The amount of scary moments in RE4 I could count on one hand. If you want scary try the Resident Evil remake for the Gamecube. That was a terrifying game especially when you met Lisa Trevor. RE is more action based now, which isn't a bad thing but I really do wish they'd go back and try to make a new RE with the same style of the old ones. The thing that's gonna take the scariness right out off RE5 is the coop and the fact that you always have back up. With those two aspects I can't really expect RE5 to be a scary game..........just a really awesome one!:D

i think code veronica was the last scary RE game, but cant really remember the scary parts off the top of my head... but RE2... *sigh* .... i'll never forget, scared the living sh*tz out of me, i can still remember the horror moments in that game, moments where i freaking jumped, dropped my controller, actually thought about running out of the room, and then getting a game over message due to character death, those was the days lol. i think the impaired graphics and dark areas made it that much hard cause u couldn't really see, not to mention the eerie music that starts up before something big is about to happen, u know its going to happen u get yourself prepared for it but the sh*t still scares u lol.

i only hope RE5 is true to its title as "horror action adventure" and is scary but we can only wait and see. didnt they push back the release date at one time? if so maybe it was to jucie up the scary content... i could be wrong and thinking of another game tho.

A guy I work with actually got this game early. Having his 360 chipped (or whetever it is these days) and RE5 being leaked online early, he got him self a downloaded copy.

He did say that the action is really fun but it is by no means scary. Looking forward to this game, should be fun!
