Is saints row 2 a must have game

How's the story in this game? I am so used to GTA. Always have been. One time I got Saints Row, the first one, but gave up on the story mode and only roamed around, causing chaos and whatnot.
If I got Saints Row 2, would I end up doing the same thing? Just flying around and killing people? Lol

Probably, the story is all over the place but basically you're trying to re-gain control by starting a new gang. But you need to overthrow like 5 other gangs and they're always invading your turf, especially when you're like a 10 minute car ride away and you have to stop and go kill those suckas. You go from being a body guard for celebrities, to being a prostitute and/or pimip, to spraying crap all over the city, to robbing casinos and taking over strip clubs. I never really got hang of the online game, everytime someone joined me, they'd have cheats on which screws up unlockables and saves and mission progress.
Thanks. Sounds like a rental to me. At first I though 'sweet, airplanes and choppers and some more, new vehicles' and it also has some new weapons and such but yeah. I don't feel like doing all those story tasks over again. Sounds a lot like the first one.Amster_G
Yeah, lots of missions and LOTS of side diversions and the diversions have different levels so you get to diversion, accomplish it but it doesn't go away because there's six different levels. So it's doing the same thing but harder and harder until you just get sick of doing it. I don't think I'll ever play enough to finish.
That being said, it's fun to screw around in it.

Yeah, the chaos is what attracted me to the game. I'm assuming the whole city it accessible like the first? Same with vehicles?
I heard you can create your own crib is that truejoegarYes you can have your own crib, and upgrade it to pimpin' style too... I'm glad I bought it, I must say I have laughed out loud many times while playing this, and while the graphics may not be on par with GTA4.. I enjoy SR2 more. Way more
so its better than gta 4joegarIn some ways, GTA4 is a better made game, and in ways, I can agree with the storyline in GTA4 more than I can in SR2. That being said though, as moved as I was by the story improvements in GTA, I was giggling my ass off with my girlfriend when playing SR2, and totally taken back by some of the stuff that they'll do to each other in its plot.
It's kind of fun. I like spraying raw sewage over everything. Honestly though, I don't play it that much. I think I started failing the harder missions and for some reason they start you over somewhere completely away from the mission. And there's so much driving. Wish there was a taxicab option like in GTAIV.

You can get a taxi, just dial the number on the phone.. how do you not know that ? lol
