skyrim is more of that simple fun where time passes and you don't really notice. there is actual measurable content, like at least 100 quests. the setting wants to be explored. it can be addicting for some people.
red dead redemption i would say is not really "fun" but you sort of have to make it fun with your own effort. there is potential to have fun in rdr but you have to apply yourself to it, and for some people the setting can be sort of boring and depressing.
It's fun as long as you haven't already played Oblivion.
I got it, played it for a while, and then got bored of it and deleted it off my harddrive. It's just Oblivion with nicer graphics.
So I guess if you haven't already played Oblivion, Skyrim will feel fresh, new and original. But I used to play Oblivion a lot, and got bored of it. Skyrim isn't that different from Oblivion, so there's no reason for me to play it.

Skyrim is fun but gets highly repetitive fast.

Pretty much this, Skyrim is fun the first hours
this plus the mindless clunky animations dont help either

This is rubbish ... It is fun and if you CHOOSE to do the repetitive quests, then it can get repetitive ... there are tons of different quests to make it interesting and fun.No all those millions of people who played it and spent hundreds of hours on it didn't do it for the fun, obviously.
Uh? The game keeps regenerating quests.....there's an unlimited amount.skyrim is more of that simple fun where time passes and you don't really notice. there is actual measurable content, like at least 100 quests. .

[QUOTE="AmazonTreeBoa"]Reading this thread has pretty much talked me out of buying it.ShadowsDemonWhy would that be? Because I got bored with Oblivion and never finished it. And from what I gather, Skyrim is nothing more than Oblivion with better graphics.
Fun and a great game but it does get stale after playing it nonstop for 80+ hours lol...I havent touched the game in over month...moved on to other things

Yea, and people say it's better than Dark Souls. I'm literally hooked to Dark Souls, New Game Plus right now, 140hrs in and it's even better the second time because there's sooo much to discover and do, plus finding rare and hard to find items. I enjoy Skyrim though also, haven't put enough time in to know if it's a masterpiece but it seems very much like most Bethesda RPG's.
Skyrim is not a game, it's more of a sandbox to mess around in. It has nice settings and all but the gameplay is incredibly dull and easy. It's amazing for role-playing, actually playing? not so much
skyrim is my first ES game. so far i really like it because i feel i have some true freedom, which not many games have these days. i wouldnt say i love the game to death like some people ive seen, but if you have time on your hands and want a game to last for awhile then i think skyrim is good.
People enjoy different things. Asking a bunch of random strangers if a game is fun is kind of silly.
Skyrim is a fantastic RPG with a ridiculous amount of content. That being said, most of that content is pretty shallow. Most quests have very little to no effect on your play through. Choices have absolutely no consequences. Combat is pretty cut and dry,Not much to it but spamming your right and left triggers. The main quest is pretty short, and doesn't quite stack up to other recent RPGs.
BUT
The thing that makes Skyrim great is the large world with nearly endless amounts of quests, locations, and items to find. I have around 140 hours over 4 different characters, and still play the game daily. Only one of those characters have been progressed passed the first mission in the main quest, and I'm not bored of it yet.
The ratings it was given were a bit exaggerated. I'd say the game is a 9/10 max right now. If you like massive games with lots of fredom to play however you want, Skyrim is probably the game for you. But if you want a game that's full of fantastic story telling, dialogue, meaningful quests and very few bugs... It's probably not for you.
