No, there is no reason for them too, anything they want to add to the console can be added through firmware updates and the graphical capabilities won't be topped for quite a few years. Don't forget though, any console you buy will probably die in 3-4 years, handhelds usually last the longest, so get one now and it'll probably last for at least 2 more years.
sony will not make a new handheld until 2010 since the slim came out the psp has been selling very well and since skype is out my tutor even has a psp even my girlfriend who hates games has a psp things like go messenger and skype will make people buy psp over the ds
YA buddy You should wait at least 3 years so you don't get ripped off! HA! do you know what the price will be by then? Also you will not want to buy the first wave of the new one so get ready to wait about half a decade!
psp will last as long as ps3(which will last long) because the wifi connection and stuff. plus I dont see how making a new portable will help sales at this time. So yah get a PSP.
you most def will not see a new handheld system by sony, I did hear that microsoft is in the works of its own handheld device, but not sure when it will come out.
And yeah, buy one. I don't know where all these threads about the death of the PSP are coming from, but it's not going anywhere. Every update adds new stuff, and just because there aren't a ton of new games listed as coming out, doesn't mean announcements can't be made. Stop freaking out about the future and enjoy the sweet games that are out now.
the psp is almost 4 years it came to japan in december 04 and came to n/a march 05, ive had mine since oct 06. anyways get the psp now its alredy really cheap and its gonna be alive for quite a few years
No, I don't think they need to, the PSP is a great hardware which pushed games to a new level like GOW, MGS, Silent Hill and Crisis Core, the PSP has a lot to offer there is no need to make a new one in my opinion.

Seriously pirating is killing the psp. I have no problem with ppl using custom firmware and dling old stuff but stealing new games seriously hurts the psp. It makes 3rd parties wary about supporting psp. There's no way that a handheld that has sold over 30+ million should have as bad software sales as psp; it's not bc the games aren't good bc psp has plenty of great games and even has more AAAs and AAs than the more popular ds. Pirates also ensure that psp exclusives get ported to ps2 bc developers see games don't sell on psp so they go to the safety net.
I don't believe Sony will try to make a new handheld, maybe just more add-ons than anything. We seriously need the GPS add-on or mini Keyboard. But a new Handheld would bring down sales on the already PSP, and just run it obsolete. Hopeful that we see more gadgets for the PSP from Japan that will enhance our experience on the PSP.
