Is Sony insane with the game prices?

I just saw the prices for the downloadable retail games for the PSN store, and have seen that some games are £39.99, £34.99 even £44.99 for FIFA. Who is their right mind is gonna pay for prices like that. The console versions of similar games become cheaper than that after a month.

I do think the digital versions should be about $10 cheaper than they already are but the same could be said for the memory cards as well.

yup one of the main reasons i don't support digital downloads. They save a ton of money with digital because most of that money is going towards the physical side of things. manufacturing, shipping, and the stores getting their cut. With that all gone they really should be taking $10 to $15 off digital games but no greed has taken over the gaming industry.

Whoever comes up with these prices should be fired, how are these supposed to tempt people into buying the console with pricing structure like these for example...

So it's not really, Ubisofts fault that it's cheap at retail, and you certainly can't and shouldn't expect them to lower the price of future iterations because of prior underperformance. This game is lauching at $40, so in due time it'll probably settle at a price ultimately cheaper than the console version.

I've seen the "It's a good game! Who cares!" excuse thrown out there time and time again. Of course it's a good game. In fact, it's a great game. But when you can purchase a HOME CONSOLE version with MULTIPLAYER for $20 CHEAPER, that's when it becomes a problem. I absolutely refuse to pay $40 for a handheld version with no co-op when I can pay $20 less for a better package.

Every company does this. When a game comes out later on another platform, developers jack up the price. Mass Effect 2 on PS3 cost $60 even though the 360 version was being sold for half that. It is not a Sony issue, but more of an industry issue.

FIFA and Uncharted are big games. Companies are not going to sell them for less. Why do you think Square games were always $10 on DS? Popular games are going to cost more at release and stay up in price for longer than other titles. Why do you think Mario Kart Wii and Mario Bros Wii still cost $50 two to three years after launch?

Buying used, confirmed for me.

I would also say the same for the prices of PSP games imo, like I sort of want to Persona 3 Portable on my Vita but I am not paying $30 for it, same with the God of War games etc...
