Ok i need some fellow opinions here guys i owned a ps2 for almost 2 years was good i really liked i was gonna go next week and pick up a playstation 3 finally have all my money saved up lol but im starting to get worried from all the things ive been reading it seems like sony isnt doing to well first the games that there wasnt a big veriady of them but i got passed that because the xbox launched a year early so obviously be more games but now im hearing that sony is loosing exclusives now Devil May Cry went multiplatform and now talks about final fantasy going multiplatform too my question is is sony really loosing the consol wars and will i be making a big mistake for getting a ps3 like i get a ps3 and find out like 4 months from now that sony is down in the drains with there console lol plz help me decide :)georgep001Sony has lost a couple of battles....but they are far from loosing the war.
so i shouldnt buy any console? lol well i want a console im too impatient to wait so would the ps3 be a dissapointment in your opnions?
No i bought mien in december and i love it so far and i only have 2 games.so i shouldnt buy any console? lol well i want a console im too impatient to wait so would the ps3 be a dissapointment in your opnions?
georgep001
admitedly sony is having probably the roughest start ever, but the war aint over -its barely eve started.
hmmm ok so buying a ps3 would be a good decision then none of u are dissapointed or anything right?georgep001well of course we are dissappointed with somethings, but that doesn't make the PS3 a total disappointment. It would be nice to have more demos on the PS Store. It would be nice to have more games out. too many games are getting pushed back. even the in-house Sony games are getting pushed back.
so there is a cheaper console that will play MotorStorm, Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Warhawk, the naughty dog project, The Getaway?Don't buy a ps3 now as it is a waste of money. I'm pretty sure more 3rd party exclusives like MGS4 and FF13 will be annoced multiplatform. If you can get a cheaper console that plays the same games with better graphics then I don't see why you would need to spend $600.

[QUOTE="chatri10"]It's still too early to tell who will win. You should wait until late 2007 or early 2008 to buy PS3. There's nothing really worth playing on PS3 right now anyway. There're still a lot of good games on PS2.ejstrup... motorstorm, rfom ?
I do have RFoM. I think it's an ok game, not great. As for Motorstorm, I don't really like mindless racing game; waiting for GT.
im getting a ps3 tomorrow with motorstorm RFOM, and oblivion, i cant wait to play it. And i doubt i will be disepointed. Im also looking forward to all the games comeing out in the next months...heavenly sword...lair...graw2...and well, lots of cool games:) Even though many ppl say tha ps3 will fail i just look at that as stupid...there are to many hardcore fans who will buy it...and many not so hardcore fans who will buy it because lots of cool games are comeing out dureing the summer and this fall...loseing DMC4 wont make sony fall to the ground...i dont think that will happen even if they lose the FF and mgs. There are just to many fans for that to happen. And if you liked ps2 and you think some of the games for ps3 look cool...there shouldnt be anything stopping you from buying one:)nc_soldierThats the best advice so far ty

LOL what have i done i only wanted some advice on buying a ps3 or an xbox 360 and its turning into a whole thread lolgeorgep001
LOL. I understand what you're going through. There're too many of fanboys here telling you to get PS3 or 360. I think the best way is to look at the current game line up and decide what game you really want to play right now, and what future game you looking forward to.

Ty i think ive decided to just go with the ps3 its more powerful the xbox 360 and the game lineups were good for ps2 so i believe theyll be even better for the ps3 thx for your advice guys i dont think ill regret getting a ps3 :) we get home too lol.[QUOTE="eclipsed4utoo"][QUOTE="Jhung207"]so there is a cheaper console that will play MotorStorm, Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Warhawk, the naughty dog project, The Getaway? Actually, Metal Gear Solid 4 is ONLY possible for the PS3 due to the hardware specs on it...as for FFXIII, who knows..? I hope Square keeps it exclusive, due to the fact that the PlayStation 3 is WAY more popular back home in Japan than it is here, as well as the Final Fantasy franchise as a whole. And, as discussed in countless threads, losing Final Fantasy XIII would hurt the PS3's sales...FFXIII was one of the reasons I bought a PS3 after all, as well with Lair, MotorStorm, and Heavenly Sword, just to name a few...

I am not a personal fan of sony but in the end they will probably win the console war this generation. They have the most loyal fanbase. But as for buying one now there are not many good games for it yet. I would buy the 360 for now and save for a PS3 for next Christmas when some of their better games are going to come out. Then you get the best of both worlds.
I have to make this short and sweet. But I have the 360 and ps3. Just got the ps3 not too long ago. And honestly, I am disappointed with the 360 a little bit now. BOTH ARE GREAT!, but the 360 has 3 must own games imo (oblivion, burnout, gears) and plenty of great games to rent, and ps3 has 3 must own games (oblivion, motorstorm, resistance). Also to be honest, gears is a better SP game but resistance has MUCH better MP then gears, and I like motorstorm about equal to burnout but motorstorm is growing on me and as I learn more I may end up liking it more. As for features, both consoles have pointless non-gaming related features that are still cool. SO, either way you get great games (ps3 backwards compatability rocks too) and great features, but at the same time it seems like there is more potential in the ps3, so if you have the money I say go for it. Even if it doesnt sell the most it will have amazing games, just like xbox and gamecube did.
Finally, these stupid AA game arguments are ridiculous. Most people dont go out expecting to buy 5+ games with there console, they get one or two. And each console only has a handful of must own games. If you get ps3, resistance, motorstorm, and oblivion will take a LONG time to get sick of, and by then you will have lair and some and if you do happen to run out of games to play you can always go pick up ps2 games you either love or missed. I am looking forward to FFXII and finishing GoWII personally.
Ultimately, if you can afford the ps3 I think it is the better, more fun console, but at the same time the 360 is an excellent alternative.

Although I give you the longest run on sentence award :D. Anyways Sony may have lost some battles but everyone knows it'll be victorious in the end!
[QUOTE="deadpool51"]the battel hasnt begun yet, it wont begin till xmas 2007 BIGDEE06The battle began on 19 Nov 06. When some good games come out for the PS3, then we can have a fair comparison. Like Deadpool says, Xmas 2007 will be a good test.
Everyone is giving good advice

Here's something for you to ponder.
The reason the system is not doing well is because people are waiting for the price drop. You're only hurting Sony if you don't buy it now. Just as a historical reminder, the PS2 sold out almost every Xmas after its launch because of spectacular releases at the time. If you wait for the inevitable $100 price drop, you may not be able to find one then. This means you won't be enjoying the great games that will be coming.

If you have the money saved, get it now.

Also, as comfort, here's a blog post i made on my 1up account:

There's a number of "economic traps" Sony has set that will make the PS3's future almost inevitable. Call these theories, optimistic predictions or what have you, but this WILL happen.
By this time next year, there are going to be HDTV's in almost every home. I can almost guarantee it. The prices are going to drop astronomically this Xmas season. What are the average consumers going to watch on their new HDTV's in order to see its true power? Bluray (We already know that Blu Ray is our future. It's beating out HDDVD 3-1). Sony has already stated that their Bluray player will drop from $1000 to $300 by the end of 2007! What does this mean? This means that all other players could be almost as cheap as $150-275! The PS3 is a competitive Blu Ray player, which means it will have to drop as well. $500 anyone?
So if you take this even further. What happens when everyone is using Bluray? What happens to that old format, what is it called, DVD? All of the manufacturers of DVD are going to switch to Bluray. There will be less manufacturers, which means an eventual increase in price, due to scarcity of the product. This IS going to happen. How long will it take? No one knows, but M$ may have to create another console in another 4 or 5 years to compete with the PS3 because of this, just like the DC would have had to do if it hadn't failed. This is why the PS3 is futureproof.

It's an article from the release of the PS2. The article states "Don't Buy a PS2" cause apparently the DC was a better buy. HAH! All of the reasons are funny too, cause they are the same reasons that people stick by the 360. Does history repeat? The answer: Yes it does.
On top of all of this, you've got some major franchises coming in the fall, along with the price drop. Every one of my casual gaming friends that OWNS A 360 WISHES THEY HAD A PS3. They all say that they were impatient to wait for next gen, and that if they hadn't been, would have a PS3, and WILL get one with a price drop. These are the people that take up a large portion of the market--Casual gamers. Think about the PS3's year so far. It's 10x's better than both the 360 and the PS2's first years. Seriously look it up.
This on top of all of the hardware problems with the 360. Which started immediately after their launch, and we still haven't heard any PS3 failures. Hell, the only problem the PS2 ever had was from the system getting too dusty, and the lens couldn't read the disc. That was an easy fix. I've had computers completely crash from lack of dust mainenance. Sony's products are practically invincible in design. Why do you think their Electronics devices (besides the PS3) are always at the high end of the priceline? Cause the name is equated at quality in the consumers' minds.Â
Sony is losing. Yes, it will eventually get games, but will never have exclusives to set it apart, like the PS2 did......and it will always have an ugly price. The question people will ask is......If 95% of games are shared between the two systems, why pay $200 more? In one way, Sony could never win.....they owned too much of the market last time not to come down some. On the other.....it's pretty sad how fast they have fallen from first to worst (3rd). They have to change things in Christmas 07, but I can't imagine how they'll do that. They can't just make the console cheaper and they also can't just create a big list of games worth playing.HulabalozaBlu-Ray..and why pay $200 more ? Because I have $200 more to spend. Well yea if you don't have $200 more, then you should just stick to your "cheaper" console. Considering it's a cheap alternative to a Blu-Ray player, if you compared to the stand-alone Blu-Ray player.Â

People need to stop calling this a war and just embrace the systems for what they are.
If you look at where the Playstation 3 is after its 4 months on the shelf it is not doing poorly. They have nearly 2 million systems sold and that number is going to rise after the Euro launch, and they have managed all of this with aggressive sales from Microsoft and Nintendo and while having the highest priced system. Look at the original Xbox and the PS2, the PS2 had a year head start and the Xbox was more expensive and it eventually "lost" the console war. But was the Xbox not a good system? I don't think so.
Of course the 360 has more units sold it's been out longer and is Sony's decision to delay the release hurting them? Yes it is, but once a solid 1st party game gets released and the ball starts rolling then sales will follow suit. Will the PS3 ever exceed the 360 in units sold? Maybe, maybe not, but as evidenced by the Xbox doesn 't that necessarily mean failure.

Um , if people do this , doesnt that mean that sony will have a greater chance of losing the ''console war''
I'm sorry to say but without several key exclusives, the PS3 is just simply not worth the money. If games like FF, MGS4 and DMC4 plus many others go to the 360 then you might as well just buy that system since it's cheaper, has larger library of games and a much better online interface. Only reason someone should buy a PS3 over 360 at this time is if they want a cheap blu-ray player or absolutely must have Sony exclusives like Gran Turismo or Dark Cloud.CaptainCrazyYeah but the hardware on the ps3 itsself will outlast the xbox by far why pay 500 bucks for an xbox360 with another 200 bucks u get blu ray wich intime most companies will be taking advantage of bluray considering it can hold up too 50 gigs of information and not to mention the 15 million dollar cell broadband engine that ibm sony and a couple other companies made lol the cell broadband its self is worth the money i can only imagine what 8 processors can do for gaming in the future im not saying xbox is bad either but i guess its all personal prefence really id rather pay 200 more dollars and know i have a much more powerful system that will last for years.
