After watching E3 I wasn't impressed the the PS3's new motion controller. It doens't appear to be anything different from the Wii and it certainly isn't as cool as the Kinect, I thought it appeared they were taking a step backwards while Microsoft and Nintendo took a step forward. What do you think on this topic? Will you buy the wand?

i think that motion controls are a waste of time period instead of wasting time with that they can come up with some new ips or improve on existing ones

Sony's move looked a hell of alot better than Microsoft's Kinect. Any Xbox360 owner who watched that conference mostly felt embarrassed to even have one after the tiger petting

In my ever so honest opinion, I think people are assuming rather than knowing the full potential of these motion controllers. Kinect or Move - it doesn't matter. We haven't had the chance to utilize these pieces of technology ourselves and have no idea how they will compare to the Wii until they are released.

I dont think they are a complete waste of time at all. From a business standpoint, they are simply competing. There is a large market out there for these types of games, just look at the wii and how popular it was starting out. While I never found it interesting or fun, I saw there were many people who did. Its a matter of making a console for everyone as opposed to simply those of us that would prefer to stick to out couches and la-z-boys. Now as far as whos tech is better...sonys. Combining motion controllers with video capture is a good idea. Ahead of the others by a long shot. Its not about which one is interesting, but what works best. Sony's tech simply functions beautifully.

Kinect seemed not to suit gaming much. Yes, Kinect is more advanced technology but they only showed some minigames for it. Sony has big titles for Move such as Sorcery, Socom 4, LBP2 and more. Plus support for many already released games. Search on wikipedia for compatible games. Games are the most important thing here. That Forza 3 showcase of walking around the car was very cool, yes. But it wasnt an actual game, more like a tech demo imo. So far Kinect doesnt have big titles on its side.

It depends on the games they're used for. So far what I've seen I have no reason to buy it. But give me a game like the elder scrolls where I can run around and shoot precisely with my bow at stuff or use one hand as a shield and the other as my sword in an open world, and I'm in!

Forgot to say that even though Move is simpler, it has those buttons, which make it easy to implement in various games. Kinecy has problems with that as it cannot be easily implemented in other games. Thats one of the best disadvantages for using Kinect in gaming. It can only have special games designed for it.

Move seems to be able to do that, at least from the videos.

I wouldn't say motion controllers are a waste of time. I agree Sony could probably be using this time to develop other things, but right now motion controllers are the in thing. They have to compete with Microsoft and personally I like the look of the Move a whole lot more than I like Kinect. Also Sony is working on 3D which I think is great, so they are working on other things and developing the PS3.

Yep I know, I just hoped they actually DO IT. Imagine playing oblivion with the move, I would love double wielding weapons and stabbing 2 people at once omgomgomg. lol

:) I see what you mean lol. That demonstration of sword and shield was amazing though. Its exactly for this. Maybe they will do it later with some other RPG. For some reason i dont think they gonna put this in Oblivion. Btw search at wikipedia for those Move compatible games. The list is rather huge. From older games, there are Hustle Kings, Pain, Flower, Heavy Rain, Eyepet, Bowling...

If there is a market for it and people buy it, it's not a waste of time. After the Sony Conference, I went from a probably not on the move to maybe will.

I think Sony might have some luck with the Move. If somebody wants a PS3 and they've also got little kids, well, there's one system that can fulfill all their needs. And they've sold like a trillion Wii's so it's not surprising that Sony would make some attempt to go after the casual market. I think they really need to establish some big franchises and advertise the crap out of them on the Cartoon Network or whatever to get little kids interested in it though.

From what I have heard, it seems like move is actually something. Sure it is a more precise wii remote, but that is what everyone wanted in the first place. Move is what Wii should have been out of the box. Heavy Rain, Socom 4, Little Big Planet 2, Slycooper, the shoot, and Time Crisis are getting support. We have a point and click adventure game, a third person shooter, a create you own game thing, a platformer, and 2 on rails games plus quite a few more games. As far as support goes, Sony has done way more than Microsoft with Kinect and Nintendo has with motion plus. There are like 30 titles coming between september and early 2011, the other companies don't have that with their devices and one of them has been out for about a year,

It's tough to say, really. I'm sure it will play great and be a huge improvement over the current controller for some games. And I look forward to getting my hands on it. But I don't see how they are going to penetrate the Wii market. To get the same experience as the Wii you need a remote, navigation controller, and camera. That costs $110. Add that on top of the price of the console and you are at $410. That's more than double the price of the Wii, yet the Wii comes with two games.

That's cool...except hardware and software are two entirely different departments. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong but the guys who developed Move aren't the same guys who develop games :P. Also, you'll notice that they did announce a new ip; for the move. I'm sure we'll see a few more new ips in the coming months. Relax, Move didn't steal any new ips from you and if it did, you wouldn't know it because they haven't been announced yet...

That was by far the worst moment of E3. Besides lots of cringeworthy things said during the Ubisoft conference...
