I currently have a 256 MB memory pro stick (yeah, i know, it probably sucks) made by sony, which I got in Japan, along with my PSP.

Now that im back in the states, I went to BestBuy and saw they had 4 differnet types of memory pro sticks for sale:

1 GB - (made by SanDisk) (around $20)

2 GB - sandisk ($30)

4 GB - sandisk ($45)

2 GB - Sony ($38 )

Why is it that the Sony one is $8 more than the Sandisk one? Are they're products better quailty?

I like the 4 GB memory stick and im thinking of getting it for my PSP, but is it worth the price? Also, are they talking about 4 GB extra space and/or faster performance as well?

I got a Sony 4gig memory stick pro duo for my PSP. I'll never fill up but it was on special for 39.99 at the time. When i had PSP 1000 (PSP phat) the infamous Value pack it came with a tiny 32mb memory stick. Which was more that enough to hold game saves for 20 psp games. Not I have only a Slimline PSP 2000 and just 9 games. So my 4GB memory stick will last forever. Since I only use it for games. So for me it is not worth 45.00 but I have one anyways.

i just bought the 8 gb stick from buy.com, and better yet, if you apply for their visa card and get approved, you get a $30 instant credit on your purchase. so with 2 day shipping, i paid $21 for an 8 gb stick.

i haven't noticed any sort of issues performance wise over the standard sony cards. i've played movies, listened to music and played games and it seems to be working just fine.

Nope, not worth it IMO. Back in June i got a 4GB for $40 and they are getting real cheap now. You can even get a 8GB with that price.

like someone said. it's a no brainer to just buy a 8 GB memstick. but if you really had a choice regardless of the pricing, it mainly depends on what it is you use mostly. personally, once i involved video movie files into my psp 4 GB seemed like nothing. i believe an 8 GB for a person looking to utilize every aspect of the psp would be ideal. i've been looking on getting a 16 GB memstick for my psp. i get tired of having to visit my pc to rotate movies.

I'd rather wait for the 16GB Memory Stick before buying any of them. It'll be out soon.

I just ordered a Sony 16gb this morning for $115 on Amazon. That's the cheapest stick I've found that was not on ebay.
