As a previous owner, its unplayable for me. I know theres people out there that can take the frame-rate in dragon age, but i can't. Its horrible. Some eariler parts of the game I have encountered a serious frame rate drop that lasted for a couple of minutes. The average frame-rate in the game (ps3 version) is around 15-25. Sometimes it goes lower, especially near fire. But I only played the game for a few hours before selling it on ebay. If you can stomach it, try it out. But don't say I didn't warn you.
On a positive note, the game itself doesn't require good frame-rate. The gameplay is slow regardless if you play it on a super fast computer.
Framerate's not a big deal to me, cause i don't play it in real time like an action game. I prefer the tactical approach. I jack up the difficulty to nightmare, reload if a character " goes down", and fight by pausing & giving commands/positioning party members.
hi there, I wouldnt say the frame rate was bad -just that the game can be a bit slow place, take the speech for example: "M..y.. N...a..m..e i..s.. d..u...n...c.a..n" - I found myself often reading the text then skipping to the next sentence as they spoke so darn slow!

yeh i got the game the other day framrate is no issue for me but as roguey said they speak so damn slow sometimes its annoying
Framerate is bad, not to an unplayable level. What's just as annoying is the sluggishness and lag when you navigate parts of the character/map/codex menu. The whole thing runs like crap but it's playable. Hopefully DA II is better optimized.
Yeah the people who say the frame rate is stomach churning or unbearable are exaggerating.... Sure it's not the best frame rate but come on its easily playable and smooth enough not to revisit your lunch.
I played it for about 3 hours.. the framerate was fine, i didn't see too many drops for a long period of time.. the game however is terrible imo.. I have no idea how that crap came from Bioware.. the battle system was just awful, hopefully they fix it like they said they would for the 2nd one..

The framerate can drop pretty bad in certain spots in the game, for instance one of cities will make it feel like you're lagging while walking around. However the game is playable and fun so it shouldn't keep you from buing it. Most of the area's are fine.
The framerate is probably the worst I've ever seen in a game - but it's certainly not unplayable. Every single battle will have the framerate pausing for a moment, and just walking through the environments has plenty of stuttering issues. But it's not game-breaking. It definitely takes what could have been a great game and lowers it down to just pretty good though.
The frame rate can get pretty bad but never unplayable. It may go strange for a minuite or so but then back to normal, but this should not in any way stop you from playing an amazing game.
Some people say its unplayable at times and others say the framerate drops but its still playable. help?

The newest patch seemed to fix a few of the stability issues. Along with adding trophies for the Witch Hunt DLC. As far as I can tell yeah it has a few hitches but I love the game, very good RPG if you can take the time to get all you can out of it.
It's not that bad. It's a far cry from the PC version, sure, but it's not unplayable. The only time it gets really bad is when it's saving, as it'll shunt you back to the game while it finishes the last 10-20 seconds of save writing and while you can technically play, the entire game is borked to hell and back until it's done with the save.
