Is the price dropped 60 Gig PS3 the same as before?

Excuse my n00bness, but I am going to get a PS3 soon, and I am trying to figure this out. Does the 60 GB model that is currently on shelves still have the hard-wired backwards compatiblity, or do you have to download the patches like the 80 GB model.

I believe the difference is negligible. I wouldn't let this issue hold up your purchase.

yes the 60 GB has the chip, it does not use software emulation
