"Don't start getting your pirated eBay accounts set up just yet though. Current-gen Blu-ray players don't have the ability to play managed copies, and ones that can aren't expected to hit the market until Q2 2010 at the earliest. Additionally, content owners will be very much in control of the backup copies, and can elect to charge for the copy made and even offer or sell additional copies."

Well it's funny because he sort of answered his own question with that article .. he's wondering if someone will be able to 'crack' the blu-ray technology so we can play burnt games .. surprised neither of you caught that .. ;)

Nothing is safe from hackers .. someone will always find a way, that's what people do ..

I'll bet you half the 'boxs' that go on the other side, are probably modded ones and people wonder why they break .. .. I mean lately, not when they were first launched ..

I will NEVER mod my PS3 or any console for that matter ..

So far its the only futureproof player, but who knows how future proof, but because the ps3 is like a computer i think it will be able to use of it if sony wants to, standalone players would either have to have a hdd in the player or would have to be able to transfer the movie to a usb drive or be connect it to a computer

o and if you are asking about backing up games, that prob wont happpen, just movies

I hope SONY will fix this by making a new BD with 100GB capacity and can play on any non-moded Blue-ray player.

lol at this answer. yes it does. And I don't know anything about managed copies but the PS3 is about the most future proof player you can get because of its ability to download and apply software updates.
