Yeah you do get the same experience. The only thing I can see a problem is that blu ray is pointless without an HDTV and HDMI. Also some game's text might be harder to read with less pixels.

Take it from me when I say that I use a five year old fat Apex 20" tv and the graphics still look so amazing and reaistic but, I'm also not saying that playingon a HDTV isthat much better, I say that if you can use an HDTVuse one, but if not playingon a standard tv won't ruin your PS3 experience.

Playing in HD makes a HUGE difference. I used to have a Panasonic 30" CRT HDTV that couldn't handle 720p and PS3 games looked like crap on it (they were downscaled to 480p) compared to the way they look on my Sharp LCD that actually supports 720p.

Yeah I'd have to agree, the PS3 does give you a brilliant gaming experience by itself on SDTV, but the second I changed to HDTV it was a whole different experience. But don't be fooled, HDTV does "not improve the graphics" It improves the clarity, the sharpness and the colours of the picture, nothing more. But again, buying a HDTV for them 3 things is so much worth it ^^ First thing you should do is try out motorstorm if you ever do get one and you'll see ;)

I compared my SDTV to HDTV.

My PS3 looked great on both but the winner is HDTV.

HDTV does give a better experience, but on SDTV you can still witness the great graphics, but just sometimes its hard to read writing or small objects.

If you have a HDTV, Make sure you have a HDMI cable, It makes the HD...MORE HD!!!

Hey guys can you still have fun with a ps3 if you dont have an HDTV?

I will get one eventually, but can you still have good graphics etc on a flat screen or somthing?

Really curious.. be honest please

maxkurth

got my ps3 last week, and for the first few days i didnt have a hdmi cord. *no hd hook up* and i gotta say the graphics suck with out it. my wii looked better on my hdtv then my ps3 without hd hook up.

so if u dont have a hdtv dont bother buying a ps3. and when u buy a hdtv make sure it has at least one hdmi input.

with it ps2 ps1 and dvds look alot better and ur ps3 games will look like a 500 dollar system:D

I don't know where everyone else has been looking, but it looks SO MUCH better in HD. It looks good in SD, don't get me wrong. Good enough to have a ton of fun. But sometimes its hard to read stuff (like in motorstorm) on SD. Everything looks so much better in HD.

However, Having fun is not in question. If you are happy with your TV setup, then why wouldn't you have fun? :)

I taught ti was fine when I used to play on my sdtv too. But ofcourse that all changed when I went HD. You cant possibly know the diffrence until you experience it.

Of course it will "improve" your experiance but it really makes no diffrence between using an HDTV OR AN SDTV...

One simple and obvious answer to this: No. It is not the same.

Playing a Movie or Game on Blu-Ray at 1080i Resolution is simply amazingly impressive. You just wont get anywhere near the same experience with an SDTV.

The lifelike feel of Virtual Reality, thats what you will get from a PS3 + HDTV or LCD that outputs 720p or 1080i

Your PS3 experience will still be great but HD definately looks alot nicer.
My brother in law has his PS3 hooked up to a SD tv and when he sees me playing resistance on my HDTV he always comments on the clearness, either way you'll still have fun:D!

people who say not really are just crazy, or they haven't experianced it in HD and regular. I personally think it doesn't at all ruin the experiance, it still looks incredible, its just some things are hard to read and see. Playing on a HDTV just sparpens things and makes everything more colorful and vibrant

The difference is really incredible. I've been playing my PS3 on an HDTV since I got it, so I never knew what it looked like on an SDTV till I was at a friend's house. It's a night and day difference. If you can at all afford to pick up an HDTV I would highly HIGHLY recommend it.
