Is the PS3 offically coming out of beta?

My co-worker was telling me that ps3 is offically coming out of beta july 18 orjune 18 and also telling me that they would be charging a $50 yearly fee much like the xbox live. He has never been wrong on any info he has given me but being that I havent seen anything about it, I was wondering if the community has heard anything about? Can anyone Confirm or Deny this?

That's great, because I was about to sell my ps3 right then. I mostly play my 360 because of all my friends in college play it. I only have a few ps3 games and they are all online with the exception of God Of War III. I would have been pretty mad if they pulled that one. I could see it happening though if they dont do better in sales.

There's talk about an optionalPSN premium service, but playing online will still be free.

But, they also said that "Everything that is free now will remain free." (not a direct quote...)

And PS3 has been final since it's release :P

just like how xboxl ive has silver free psn will have its basic features including online free but will offer a paid service similar to xbox live but you are not forced to have it
