Yeah there is a big problem with the PS3.
IT WON'T BREAK DOWN! My God! I've owned one since February and the thing has absolutely nothing wrong with it! Not even a single freeze! Man, I'm so worried... I mean, for not having even the slightest thing like a freeze, seriously worries me. I mean it should have at least a freeze or an overheat, but damn the PS3 just works too damn good!
:DÂ
Ok.. just i was reading here and there how people had to get replacements and tht someones fan has went crazy, etc..
thanks..KraigA
the fact is all electronics break down sooner or later
ps3s will fall into the later departments
where cough*Â 360s cough* fall in the sooner department

You might have read the "joke" thread where people posted farfetched problems that their PS3 gave them. Subtle console bashing to the 360.Â
Ps3 is very reliable its very well built i have had it since launch and once folding @ home came out ive been running it 24/7 every day no breaks inless i wanted to watch some videos or a movie but i never shut it off and its still running great ive done about 80 units in folding @ home
Â
Its been running for 26 Days NON STOP Hell of a stress test huh good thing for the warrenty
I've had mine since launch, and have had it running nonstop for more than 48 hours straight on a number of occasions with absolutely NO problems. I'm amazed at how reliable it's been running. After hearing the problems with the 360 I was expecting the PS3 to have similar problems, but I was pleasantly surprised. I mean, for $600 it better not break!Â

It took the ps2's a few years before disk read errors started to surface more frequently. It's hard to say what will happen; only time will tell.
Best thing you can do it keep it cool. Don't put it on carpet and keep it out of entertainment centers as this thing runs very hot.
At 70°F the fans should never be on high, and if they are, then it needs more room to breathe.
Surges, dust, and heat are poison to electronics. Take care of it and it will take care of you. :)
I'd highly recommend a surge protector also.
I have had my PS3 for about 4 months now, and I have only turned it off once when we had a power outage. Since Folding@Home came out I have been running it all day and all night, up to 92 W/U :). I never turn it off, and I have yet to even have my PS3 feeze up on me. I think of it like a computer, I never turn my comp off, why turn the PS3 off when it could be folding to help a good cause :)
P.S. I have a launch PS2 that I have had on 24/7 more or less since the day I got it. I just pause the game, and it was already for me when I wanted to play again :) Sony took the time to make a good machine, unlike some other consoles that I will not mention...

u are crazy
and to the above poster. when protiens fold wrong they cause dieseas. the ps3 simulates that folding and sendes it back to a CPU there people average4 it up and try to find whats wrong and counter it.
Quick question, what is folding@home?
folding@home is a project being run by stanford. It runs sims of the way protiens in the body fold to become different systems such as antibodies and what not. They do this because when the protiens fold improperly the cause things like cancer, so this lets them better understand how it happens and how we can stop it.

I've been folding since the 1.6 update was released too. Last I checked I was around 65 units or something, and that was last week.
It hasn't farted flames on my Wii yet, and it is still folding whenever I check it... so no crashes or freezes so far.
Only time will tell....
Gahh! I just noticed! I had 30 days to phone up and get my (extra) warenty for my PS3.. and no joke, it has been exactly 31 days! I just remembered..
Anything to worry about? Has anyone had any problems with their ps3?
Thanks...KraigA
here is my opinion on reliability especailly after 1,92 update it tends to randomly freeze up while loading a ps2 game restart system and it will work , not bad though im sure its just after the dl i had the problem cause after i restarted it it worked 100% compared to ps1 and ps2 the ps3 reads the disc whether or not they are some scratches on it for ex on ps2 i was never able to play my timesplitters 2 without problems now that i have a ps3 the only prob it has is in level 2 in solo mode, no music it skips but other then the random freeze ups and the amounts of dust it collects mine still works perfectly
compared to the 360 ps3 and the wii are the 2 most reliable consoles put out
most of the people who have ps3s love them as muchas i do. THANK YOU *** ENGINEERING! unlike that 360... my 3 red lights came a month ago (second console and only 8 months old) my friends came on today (same age as mine) BOTH MADE LAST YEAR!!!!! I love my ps3 ,oh so reliable. (not 360 bashing, just being honest and stating a fact)mclovin401im even lucky to get 6 mos out of my 360 before i ran into problems my first i got in march of 06 the second six months later in sept that had to be replaced about a yr after i got the original 360 that i still have and 3 mos later its starting to tell me what my original told me , please put this disc in an xbox360 console
let me put it this way
first 360-march 17 2006 -spet 20 2006
2nd 360 not a ms return eithera brand new one so just think i could have got a ps3 at launch , spet 20,2006-march 16-2007
the 3rd console ms sent me gave me problems 3 months later but is working again
With respect to reliablility, please don't confuse the Xbox 360 Elite with the PS3.
The only thing they have in common is the color. THAT'S IT.
