Gahh! I just noticed! I had 30 days to phone up and get my (extra) warenty for my PS3.. and no joke, it has been exactly 31 days! I just remembered..

Anything to worry about? Has anyone had any problems with their ps3?

Thanks...

well 1st off u have a warranty through sony 4 a year, but 4 me i can say yeah it is very reliable, i mean there r some kinks in it that sony can iron out through a software update, but as 4 as hardware goes, it;s very reliable so u shouldn't b worried at all

Yeah there is a big problem with the PS3.

IT WON'T BREAK DOWN! My God! I've owned one since February and the thing has absolutely nothing wrong with it! Not even a single freeze! Man, I'm so worried... I mean, for not having even the slightest thing like a freeze, seriously worries me. I mean it should have at least a freeze or an overheat, but damn the PS3 just works too damn good!

the fact is all electronics break down sooner or later
ps3s will fall into the later departments

You might have read the "joke" thread where people posted farfetched problems that their PS3 gave them. Subtle console bashing to the 360.

I've had mine since launch, and have had it running nonstop for more than 48 hours straight on a number of occasions with absolutely NO problems. I'm amazed at how reliable it's been running. After hearing the problems with the 360 I was expecting the PS3 to have similar problems, but I was pleasantly surprised. I mean, for $600 it better not break!

It took the ps2's a few years before disk read errors started to surface more frequently. It's hard to say what will happen; only time will tell.

Best thing you can do it keep it cool. Don't put it on carpet and keep it out of entertainment centers as this thing runs very hot.

At 70°F the fans should never be on high, and if they are, then it needs more room to breathe.

Surges, dust, and heat are poison to electronics. Take care of it and it will take care of you. :)

I'd highly recommend a surge protector also.

Chalk up another vote for a smooth running system.

Reliability is the reason I opted for this console as opposed to ... well ... another one. :D

I have had my PS3 for about 4 months now, and I have only turned it off once when we had a power outage.  Since Folding@Home came out I have been running it all day and all night, up to 92 W/U :).  I never turn it off, and I have yet to even have my PS3 feeze up on me.  I think of it like a computer, I never turn my comp off, why turn the PS3 off when it could be folding to help a good cause :)

P.S.  I have a launch PS2 that I have had on 24/7 more or less since the day I got it.  I just pause the game, and it was already for me when I wanted to play again :)  Sony took the time to make a good machine, unlike some other consoles that I will not mention...

sony seems to have built this machine like brick sh**house, so I wouldn't worry about the warranty issue.

u are crazy

and to the above poster. when protiens fold wrong they cause dieseas. the ps3 simulates that folding and sendes it back to a CPU there people average4 it up and try to find whats wrong and counter it.
Quick question, what is folding@home?
folding@home is a project being run by stanford. It runs sims of the way protiens in the body fold to become different systems such as antibodies and what not. They do this because when the protiens fold improperly the cause things like cancer, so this lets them better understand how it happens and how we can stop it.

I've been folding since the 1.6 update was released too.  Last I checked I was around 65 units or something, and that was last week.

It hasn't farted flames on my Wii yet, and it is still folding whenever I check it... so no crashes or freezes so far.

Only time will tell....

I have almost 15000 WU on folding@home. When I'm not playing games. I leave it on. I think Sony planed for people to use it this way. So, yes. It's reliable.

There been no problems with mine, and it's a launch PS3. Plus its been running for about 18 days straight now thanks to Folding@Home, so I'd say its pretty reliable.

Yeah its very reliable.  Once I had it on for 3 straight days and it was only a bit warm but nothing else.  I was playing Resistance online during the day and Folding@Home during the night

here is my opinion on reliability especailly after 1,92 update it tends to randomly freeze up while loading a ps2 game restart system and it will work , not bad though im sure its just after the dl i had the problem cause after i restarted it it worked 100% compared to ps1 and ps2 the ps3 reads the disc whether or not they are some scratches on it for ex on ps2 i was never able to play my timesplitters 2 without problems now that i have a ps3 the only prob it has is in level 2 in solo mode, no music it skips but other then the random freeze ups and the amounts of dust it collects mine still works perfectly

compared to the 360 ps3 and the wii are the 2 most reliable consoles put out

360 has great features and possibly better than ps3 (so far). MS put a VERY FLAWED console out. Oh FYI, the UPS storenear my house gets 4-5 xbox360's a day. its funny, i didnt even have to tell her what was inside (she already knew)LOL:lol:.if i had to choose 1 to be my favorite, i choose the gradually improving , more RELIABLE and WAY more potential, MY PS3.... im a sony man but hey, theres a reason.

its funny how MS sold so many consoles..... alot of people bought a second or third because that console keeps F-N UP. U buy sony, chances are it will be only once. (FOOD FOR THOUGHT)

This might be an over generalization, but i think Sony gaming products (not sure about their other products like tv, camera's etc. but i think its about the same) have always had excellent quality and reliability. From personal experience i've had my PS2 since the first year it came out and 'til now i have never had a single problem with my PS2 (and PS3) and still runs as if i got it brand new just yesterday. =D Granted this is the gaming let alone the electronics industry and we also live in the real world (gasp!) so there will always be exceptions and some might have problems but overall the PS3 is very reliable and if yours has problems you can always come back to the forums and ask for help or even call Sony, this is what customer service is designed for or even take advantage of the 1 year warranty. =)

With respect to reliablility, please don't confuse the Xbox 360 Elite with the PS3.

The only thing they have in common is the color. THAT'S IT.

the ps3 is much more reliable than the 360. I own both and the 360 goes funny after playing it for like and hour and a half! and I keep it in a lot of space so it can ventilate. the ps3 is great. the 360 seems a little half baked to me MS just wanted to get a console out first unlike sony who likes quality.
