Is the PS3 right for me?

Well right now I am on my 2nd XboX 360 (first one overheated). I am seriously thinking about returning it to costco and using some more cash I have now to buy a PS3. I really like shooting games and rpgs but right now the 360 only has shooting games and most of the exlusive rpgs coming to the 360 don't really appeal to me. If I bought a PS3 I would also be able to play most of my PS2 games and I would buy FF12,Gods of War 1 and 2,etc.

And what other features does the PS3 have? I heard you can use the internet (do you have to pay extra?). Is the PS online network any good? Are their achievments or anything like them in the PS3? I will be playing on a SD tv so the blu ray really doesnt matter to me.

Its good for those PS2 games, the browsers not that good, I mean I hardly use mine, The online is not as good as XBL, but hey its free. NO achievements, though when home comes in September, there will be some type of trophy system. And to top it all off blu-ray doesnt matter to you, wow... To be honest you would be better off sticking with the 360

The ps3 is amazing but I would say isnt worth it right now if you have an SD tv. The HD really brings out the ps3s value with the blu ray being a HUGE part of the ps3 plan. I would say get it if you love the games like I do but my hdtv makes it worth while

Yea I always hear people saying wait for more games but I can already get Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Virtua Fighter 5, Resistance, Motorstorm, The Bigs,etc.

I'll also eventually get:Final Fantasy 13
Grand Theft Auto 4
Assasins Creed
Unreal Tournament 3
MGS 4
Haze
Killzone 2

And I can also pick up:
God of War 1
God of War 2
Final Fantasy 12

I think those games will be able to hold me off long enough for better games to come...

Okay, better if you just try out PS3 at your local GameStop or EBgames, you'll see the differences..... PS3 graphics look way better. and the controller feels better. youve got to try it out.

At home, if you have a PS3 right now. no the online isnt par with 360's yet. But PS3 always have new updates for better stuff every week. and as they said above HOME is coming soon, and personaly it's gonna be so awesome and it's free.

Only yourself can make the decition whether to like PS3 or not. PS3 will seem to have even more and even better FPSs like, Resistance, Haze, Killzone2. not to mention Heavenly Sword and what not.

PS3 plays fine on an SDTV but it will look hell a lot better on an HDTV, blu-ray is A must for future games.

Great info.

I was lucky enough to snag a rare 20gig before they discontinued them. MGS4 is worth it and the PS3 way more reliable than 360. But even the $600 version is worth it when you add up the cost to add these features to the 360 (online $165 for three years, wifi $100 add on, rechargable battery for controller $40) = $305 + 400 for the console = $705

And is the 60 gig really needed? I'm not going to be playing a whole lot of games and probably won't be putting much if any music on the PS3 (if I can put my ipod into a usb on the PS3 if it has one).1pantera965

If you like action and rpg then PS is always th way to go, i'm sure that ps3 will come out with good rpgs in no time. Also if you like action games check out dmc4 (i know it coming to xbox, but i bet the ps3 version is going to be better since it was originally made for PS), its up to par with ninja gaiden which IMO are the greatest action games. Also you can play three generation of games for ps, ps2 and ps3

Right now 360 has the slight graphical edge overall because PS3 is newer and cell is tough to develop for. But in the longrun the PS3 will probably be the graphical leader once developers have more time with cell.k2dart2k

Don't you think that with the way things are going, developers won't bother spending the extra time tailoring the game to the PS3 and getting the best out of Cell

Yeah actually I do. Umm... yeah. What developer wouldn't want to make the best possible game out there? What developer wouldn't want to be able to say... "My game is the best because it runs on the best hardware." ?You've got to be kidding me if you think that every developer in the world will just go to the wii because it's the easiest to develope for. Grow some brains.
