omg of course is worth your money, i dont know a lot about the hardware cuz MGS4 is enough to hav one, but keep in mind a blu-ray player cost like $300, also the ps3 is like a pc, u can customize it, wallpapers,themes,music,videos all sort of things, 8 core processor, wireless controller with builtin rechargeable battery, free online service, omg for god sake the ps3 look so awsome, the black color, the chrome, im in love
Xbox makes you pay for online, but its better than PSN. But PSN is much more mature. Playstation really gives you hi-def, and not power bricks as big as, well, a brick. PS3 gives Blu-ray, Xbox has...HD-DVD? PS3 has a smaller game selection, but they are great, unlike Xbox's full roster of games with a few being great. Quality>Quanity. Xbox is half the price, but PS3 will last longer and have more games when Xbox 720 is out. Now, I leave it up to you to decide ;)
I dont think any console should be $400 at this point in time. Unless you really have a steady income and you have no other priorities to deal with in your life, by all means go out and grab it. It's an amazing console no doubt. I can't wait for x-mas so I can finally play that MGS4 bundle I got =]. The point is if it's worth it to you go out and grab it. If you got enough money saved up to have a safety blanket after a big $400 purchase I dont see why not.
Yes they are worth it, also i have full faith in upcoming God of War III. Anyway, you might go through a crisis like me, when you'll start to think you would have more games if you had a 360 (good ones of course). PS3 exclusives can match quality from 360 exclusives and even be better, but most multiplatform releases are not that good on PS3, while late releases have better graphics and sometimes more content, lots of games in PS3 use HDD installs, sooner or later you'll start to go short with space
I think its worth it, with its built in wifi, its hardrive, its built in blu-ray, free online play, and its reliability id say its worth it, If i didnt think it was worth it i would of never bought one
Look at it this way. Can you make a PC for 400$ that runs games as smoothly as a PS3 ... ALMOST ... better question, can you play all the games you want on another console or on the PC???? if yes then it is not worth it, if no then it is :)
Hell yeah it's worth 400 bucks. Things are starting to pick up for Sony and it can only get better from here on. If you asked me this same question a year ago, I would probably say maybe, but now, there's no question about it.

I don't think Socom will be to your liking.Some games aside from your list you'll definitely want to check out are Ratchet & Clank ToD, & Resistance 2 as exclusives.You won't be disappointed
If those are the only games you're interested in then maybe not, there's alot of other good games out for the PS3. MGS alone should almost warrant the price tho 10/10 :)

I spent $600 on mine and it only included Kane and Lynch: Dead Men. This was in June and was a 40GB. I thought that was brilliant value (even if it isn't the cheapest you can get it) just because of how much I love my PS3. I play my Xbox 360 from time to time, and am currently waiting for Gears of War 2, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts and Left 4 Dead, but at the moment the PS3 dominates my time.
You're really only paying alittle over 100 dollars for the gaming part of the system, not to mention it can go online; has wifi; can play mpegs, mp3s and god knows what else. The features alone without games make it worth the money really.
